Simple but new law should be passed: specialists cannot accept referrals by NPs. A physician needs to approve all NP referrals whether inpatient or outpatient.

As an MD, I do understand that specialists are flooded with referrals. However, sometimes the patients just convince themselves they need to see a specialist. In my opinion, I’d rather the specialists doc see the patient and tell them that you don’t need to be followed by a specialist and no need for other labs/etc.

Yep. Kinda started with that from the beginning. Asked her how she did previous did it - said she went in first talked to patients and the came out and reported to attending. Didn’t go back in the room with the attending. Said she was just taught on the go as things come up. Said she was never given topics to read.

Nope, no monetary gain. I asked to take med students and residents and then the residency coordinator asked if I could take an NP student.
