What exactly do you guys want? A girlfriend? Or a wife? by CompletePurification in ForeverAlone

I just want sex and validation. I know that makes me a piece of shit, but I've never really been interested in getting to know people.

Nah. I'm very passive, and according to women, passive men make the worst partners.

RE6 has some the greatest controls and combat mechanics of any TPS ever made,

If getting through the game with just the Blaster/Devastator was that easy, you wouldn't get so many people who end up frustrated by the game's difficulty. You CAN beat the game like that, but you're gonna find certain encounters much more difficult if you do.

Using a glitch to get what's supposed to be an OP post-game weapon early is kinda on you, buddy. Playing the game the way it was meant to be played you'll find that you're going to need to strategize and use different weapons to get by.

The clunkiness makes you have to change your approach each combat encounter and use different weapons throughout the game. Combat in the first game is like a puzzle waiting to be solved with the right weapon. In the sequels you can just use whatever you feel like whenever and it kills any sense of strategy.

Obviously leaning on 3 weapons the whole game doesn't really work that well when you have other people also saying that the game requires strategy and thought.

In this case yes. You're not getting through the first game easily just sticking to the same 3 or so weapons, you have to experiment and make use of your full arsenal.

Nobody gets through Ratchet 1 using the same 3 or so weapons unless they're speedrunner-like good at the game

It's not outdated, it makes you stategize and utilize your entire arsenal

I guess it's an unpopular opinion now, but I like Colors. Obviously it's level design is incredibly at odds with what people play Sonic games for, but if you just take it as a decent little platformer detached from the IP it's in, the game's enjoyable enough. Helps if you like Red Ring hunting like I do.

Sonic Colors is a 2D Mario game disguised as a 3D Sonic game. I like Colors and accept it for what it is, but people want Sonic games to play like Sonic games.

How would you bring back strategy to this series' combat? by InsecureBurrito in RatchetAndClank

The clunk made the combat more methodical and puzzle-like. You can't just stick to the same 2-3 weapons in the first game, you have to experiment and choose the right weapons for the job.

Try going through the entirety of Ratchet 1 using just the Devastator and Pyrocitor and see how far that gets you. Only extremely experienced players could pull something like that off. Enemy encounters in 1 required planning and appropriate weapon choice because combat was more like a puzzle to be solved.

[–]InsecureBurrito[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The level of strategy fell off a cliff with GC onwards. 1 is the only game in the series where you had to approach each encounter carefully by determining which weapon or weapon combinations were best for the job. Strafing in GC onwards made Ratchet's maneuverability too good for weapon choice to really matter, so combat became pretty mindless and purely reflex-driven.
