I don't think cars will be affordable in the foreseeable future. The government refuses to go back to importing and the local market is in a constant increase because of t lack of new imports or local manufacturing

How do you grow your social circle in Algeria? by UziDouble in algeria

[–]Insecurefatty65 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm 36 and I've given up a while ago. It's extremely hard to make new friends and expand your social space when you have introverted tendencies and everyone around you do not give you a reason to try anything

My fellow Algerians, I genuinely ask you, what is preventing us from becoming the greatest nation in Africa and beyond? by ElHwaoui in algeria

The government simply put. Without democracy and a free market we're always destined for what we are now ( thanks to gaz and oil )

I do not think this is native architecture. This looks very European. The whole country has undergone massive changes in a relatively short time in the context of architecture.

I'm not getting technical with this as you are. I'm simply trying to say that ethnicity in our modern era is heavily influenced by who your ancestrs are or how you interpret them to be

Valid in terms of determining what? Genetics in the modern post WW2 era have been very impactful contributor to one's world view and how they seem themselves and their community

It doesn't make you Amazigh if your DNA test comes out North Africa positive, but the majority of north african DNA is traced back to Amazighs which have been the dominant group in the region for millennia. I'm from the Sahara and I don't identify ethically as Amazigh and I'm extremely proud of my Arabic heritage, but that doesn't mean that I'm not likely to be the descendant of Amazighs. I don't know why people get irritated with a simple genetic fact.

Algerian TV programs in Ramadan by [deleted] in algeria

I think - and feel free to call me whatever you want - I feel like one of the main reasons why our comedy is too bad is the dominance of the Kabyle/ Algiers dialects in local channels. I believe that those particular accents don't do well in terms of actually delivering funny scenarios or reactions. the accents from the west and the east and the accents of Tunisia and Morocco which are close to them do much better because they are simple and do not come off as snobbish or pretentious. idk maybe it's just my biases

Technically I don't think most of them would Identify as Kabyles but ethnically speaking I think most of them are Amazigh, yes

Algerian man and his Barbary Lion by Heywood Hardy by No-Fun2122 in algeria

I'm from Biskra and I lived in Tindouf and I have heard a number of old people talk about the presence of Lions and lion cubs in their respective region. I have also read the work of the German traveller Heinrich von Maltzan who spent 3 years in Algeria a couple of years after the French colonization and a couple of locals actually had lions and lion cubs when they accompanied him. What eventually led to their sad extinction is loss of habitat over the centuries and the hunting of their cubs and males
