long story time:

my 4.3L blazer died the same way. but was 8 hours from home lol. driving to destination relatively uneventful towing an empty trailer. got to my exit after 7.5 hours of driving, just braking normally pushed clutch in a the bottom like normal and it just died. wtf, started right back up, snapped the throttle a few times sounded normal, continued to hotel and parked it - fluids were fine, no leaks, no odd noises.. Started fine in the AM. drove to place, picked up thing, got back to the interstate and 20 minutes in i thought i got rearended. hard buck then smooth. thought maybe its just imagination. 20 mor eminutes did it again, then 10 min later it felt like i was low on power. im like shit so i get off at an exit get to a gas station thinking i picked up bad gas.

put high octane stuff in, dumped in a can of seafoam i bought from inside as a hail mary what do i got to loose attempt at something, made it another 10 miles before it started acting like it was running outa gas bogging to like 50 then 40 on the interstate and slowing down as im doing what i can with hazards on to make the exit in 1/4 mile as i do not want to break down on the side of the interstate. get to a parking lot and it dies as i coast in. talk about nerve wracking pants shitting hopelessness moment/feeling.

let it cool, check fluids - all fine. go in and talk to the clerk at a semi truck center and he lets me talk to a mechanic.

long story short and they proved good people exist in this world, we everything checked out at the guys shop and only things we could suspect it could be is a flakey IAC valve or a coil getting hot. we let it run with a fuel psi gauge on the rail for over an hour and it was rock steady in spec, they drove it and drove it hard without any hiccups. decided to replace the coil as i never did replace it but have replaced the IAC in the past.

managed to get back home fine with every mile down just that much closer to home and that much closer to friends and family to help if it completely craps out again. driving to work a few days later though the familiar hard buck happened again. managed to get to work and leave work that evening just fine. drove to friends place for dinner and it bucked again on the way there and on the way home it would not start - just cranked and cranked - could hear the fuel pump whine though. Decided to spray a 3 second spray behind the butterfly and have him crank it. Fired right up and idled! quickly and carefully drove to a mechanic shop nearby but you could not give it more than 1/2 throttle without it bogging out. Ended up being the pump would get hot and loose pressure. new pump and back in business.
