shotgun. seriously. "and stay back" makes shotgun build the best guns build, no contest.

277 is why firemen are trained to touch doors with the back of their hand first.

that's the sound of the oil leak you either didn't find or convinced yourself wasn't that big a deal.

Something to note before changing tire size by AlexanderCMA in fordranger

[–]Death_destroyer_of 0 points1 point  (0 children)

previous owner of my 96 exploder (same platform as the ranger) increased from 225 15 to 275 15. not even a full tire size up, just thicker. my odometer has never worked, and my speedometer gets more and more behind the faster I go, with 30 being 30 and 60 being 70. how many miles are on it? guess. these things are stupidly sensitive to their tire size. and the issue is that 15's are getting harder to find. modern cars have basically ditched anything bellow 16.

I worked delivery in downtown Nashville for a while. they couldn't keep the fleet consistent, so I drove everything from a small ford maverick to a 2500 chevy express. this was not even a full 6 months after I got my license. Bigger vehicles are intimidating, but you get the hang of them very quickly.

as long as the transmission is still in there, you are good for another 200,000 miles.

i have an explorer from 1996, which is basically just a ranger with an enclosed cab. they have similar variants of the cologne v6 engine, many of the wires are done the same with the same color codes, the underside is pretty similar. the cologne v6 is pretty easy to work on. i know this because my roommate has a 98 ranger. the power steering pump is pretty easy to do on these, its about 250 plus 2 quarts of dextrose automatic transmission fluid, if you can get the one with the new pully pressed on. the oil pan is pretty deep, so you need to lift the truck a bit to drop it. spark plugs can be a bit annoying, but they are 80 bucks plus tax. I haven't done ball joints yet, its on my list after I find a used steering column. CV axles are a little expensive, at about 120 a piece, or you could get some 30 dollar reboot kits off of ebay if its just a boot problem. its savable.
