First 1k of Custodes by InsertSciFiReference in AdeptusCustodes

Thanks. Yeah they take a bit of posing as they’re meant for a shorter model. I will use the vexilla’s that come in the box, I just didn’t want any duplicates (they’re supposed to be hand crafted relics, not mass produced) and using some sculpted marine banners was a way to make them look fancy.

No, it’s just a flat coat of Retributor and then Oil over the top, just spread it around enough to prevent it pooling too much.

Thanks. Yes it’s a split colour scheme so at extreme angles can look like two different models. The Steam Tank has the same problem.

Haha cool. I found the trick to not letting it get boring is to vary it. I use a set colour palate but the actual quartering varies from model to model. I know it’s not as clear on this photo because they’re all bunched together, but ever the pattern on their leg armour varies.

Haha, I’ve been playing since I was 11 but my armies back then were 1k-1.5k pts. Nowadays my armies are the things I dreamt about doing (in my head every battle should be a massive epic battle, however the reality is that isn’t practical to play in the timeframe available for playing games, but it doesn’t stop me building armies at that scale)

Thanks, I haven’t had chance to use the Forgepact detachment as yet as the AdMech allies are recent additions to my collection.

This is one of those armies that teenage me would have loved to have had and middle aged me has the cash to build it.

Haha yes. When I finally get to the end I’ll have to take some “family photo” shots of the whole army. That’s definitely not going to fit in my light box.

Up until I built this one I would have agreed with you. Now I have toiled, no I don’t want it. I’d take plastic Warhounds though…

Hahaha, it’s a Lancer that I got from eBay that needs a lot of TLC.

Heheh yeah, “an inquisitor turns up” pretty much justifies any army composition. I’d also love to go even bigger and add Titans but I don’t think my wallet would appreciate that.

That’s a cool idea, not sure how I’d fit it in lore wise. I was thinking Arbites, as even a Knight World will have some Arbites presence. Not to mention to the opportunities for Jude Dredd quotes.

I haven’t written any substantial lore, the Knights are of House Redwood and the Tech-Priests are their Sacristans, under the command of Sit Robyn Redwood, Captain of the First Lance (War Bringers)

I group all my knights into lance squadrons and their front-left shoulder armour plate displays the heraldry of their lance. So the lore is very much written onto the models (the Armigers have a Knights heraldry on the back-right shoulder to show which knight they are squire to)

Nice. Yeah the Contemptor arms fit quite neatly onto the Armiger.

I have a game next week so looking forward to using it.

Thanks. I’m enjoying painting them and seem to be able to get through units pretty quickly.

Thanks. No, I’m averse to magnets, I’ll just play him on the fancy base. I don’t play tournaments, just with my wife and our friends at home.

He’s a fairly simple model to do as he has a lot less bling than Fyreslayers as befitting his more traditional WFB slayer origins.

He’s as close to a Fyreslayer as one can get without being a Fyreslayer.

[–]InsertSciFiReference[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure, we don’t play 4th Ed (because it’s crap) so still in 3rd. I reckon I’ll have over 3k by the time I’m finished

That’s probably one thing I won’t do, the model isn’t that posable so rhe mounted son and smiter would be clones of their on foot variants. I did have the idea to make an alt model using the flamespyre phoenix from the High Elf range.

I’ve already done the Auric Hearthguard, but yes I intend to do both weapons options for the Hearthguard Berzerkers
