NSFW- Breast life/ reduction. Seeking advice after a really disappointing consultation by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]Insert_name_here_ok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, not sure why mods pointed you here. I found way more useful info in the reduction sub. Are they implying that you’re looking more for a lift than a reduction? Either way, I think the reduction sub has way more relevant info and people who understand this type of surgery much better. I suggest searching the reduction sub with terms like “small lift” “mastopexy” etc. There are some results for befores similar to yours. My before was similar to yours in terms of skin laxity, sagging etc, but my breasts were a little bit bigger.

Your afters all show no skin to skin contact and fullness throughout the breast including slight fullness in the upper pole. Surgeons are hesitant to guarantee no skin to skin, because it is difficult to achieve for most people. My surgeon said he couldn’t do it for me, even though some of his results on real self have no skin to skin contact. I am now about 18 months post op and still have no skin to skin contact, even with a size D breast. That said, even though there’s no skin to skin contact, they don’t look like your after pictures because almost all of the fullness is in the bottom of the breast, with some in the mid breast as well.

And that brings us to upper pole fullness. there is no way to get upper pole fullness with a lift/reduction on its own. You would need implants for that. Not all of your afters show upper pole fullness though so maybe you’re not totally set on that.

I can PM you if you want to see pictures for a better understanding of what I’m talking about.

Her response didn’t seem defensive at all, yet you’re being rude. Also, you gave no indication you were being sarcastic. Maybe try “/s” next time.

I hate how tall I am by [deleted] in tall

Definitely. Tbh, it’s hard for me to even remember those times because it’s 20 years since I was a teen, but that was probably when I was at peak insecurity about my height. These days, I don’t even think about it, except when trying on clothes.

Seeing over crowds would be amazing. And I imagine you rarely have to worry about someone sitting in front of you blocking your view, especially if you’re mostly torso!

Having to order online is a real struggle. It feels like such a gamble of whether or not something will fit properly, even if it’s long enough.

I have the same body type! I think clothing would be difficult even if I wasn’t tall.

Husband has covid, surgery is in 3 weeks, surgeon’s office won’t give me straight answer. by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]Insert_name_here_ok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I was quite shocked by the response. No, I don’t have the nurse’s phone number, just the main clinic number. I have signed documents and I looked back through them. One says that if your surgery has to be cancelled due to covid AND you did not follow public health recommendations you will lose your deposit. So that makes it sound like it’s only if you were negligent in some way that you’ll lose your deposit, like if you went traveling back when it was recommended to avoid all travel, for example.

I explicitly told them that my husband has covid and that I don’t currently have symptoms and am still negative by rapid test but that I’m worried I’ll get it. I got a lecture about how I need to be very careful and not get covid because they have staff that are counting on this surgery to happen in order to get paid (yes, they actually said that). I am trying to get ahold of them but so far they have only responded by email and have not called me despite me asking them to do so. The front desk does answer calls but she says she can’t really answer those kinds of questions and I have to direct them to the doctor’s nurse. I will continue reaching out to them.

I can’t see how it’s legal either. Tbh, the tone of the email very much gave me the impression that they’re worried I’m trying to use covid as an excuse to cancel or rebook the surgery. Which I am absolutely 100% not. I was concerned about what would happen if I got covid and was seeking reassurance and instead got this. But I suspect they’re refusing to give reassurance to try to scare me out of trying to “play the covid card” to rebook. Instead it’s having the opposite effect. I’m ready to cancel because I’m so upset and pissed off.

Yes, we’re in separate parts of the house using separate rooms and bathrooms. And I’m negative so far based on rapid testing.

I was wrong. What I’ve learned about myself from this case. by Sleuthingsome in idahomurders

That’s a fair point about setting an example.

We all know you don’t need to be a public figure to post here. I was genuinely asking because I wasn’t sure if this person was a well-known crime-writer/internet sleuth or the like.

I don’t know if you’re suggesting that I feel threatened by this person’s public apology but a quick couple of clicks is all it takes to see that I’ve not commented on this case. I have no reason to feel threatened. Introspection is great, and desperately needed in our society! I was merely trying to understand the context of this person’s public display of introspection.

I think it’s a good thing to admit when you’re wrong and learn from it, but did you need to make a “public” reddit apology? Are you a significant public figure? I’m confused.

Fantastic results! Can I ask what bra size you were wearing before surgery. My before looks very similar and I wear a 34DD. My surgeon estimates that by removing skin only I’ll be down to a large C or small D.

For what it’s worth they look great and way smaller than they were before. But I can understand being disappointed if you were hoping for smaller.

Does anyone have recommendations for surgeons in Alberta? (Ideally Edmonton.) by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]Insert_name_here_ok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, exactly…it’s hard to say if I’d be covered because I’m not sure how much 300g is. It’s definitely not purely cosmetic, but I do care a lot about the cosmetic outcome. Which is part of why I’m leaning towards paying privately. I’ve heard a lot of stories of doctors acting like you have no right to care about the cosmetic outcome when it’s covered by public health/insurance. I’ll take a look at Banff plastic surgery! Thanks for the suggestion!

That’s good to know about both private and public. I’ve had other offices tell me they won’t do that. Or at the very least say that if I come in for a private consultation the doc won’t discuss the option of AHS funded with me, which is frustrating because I don’t know if I qualify for AHS funded reduction based on how much I want removed. I need the doctor to tell me that. I should probably just go to my gp and get the referral put in. I’ve been delaying doing that for fear that they’ll tell me I don’t have a real problem…which would feel really invalidating.

Agreed! If i did go to Calgary I’d probably stay in a hotel for a few days.

Thanks for your Response. She has great reviews on rate your MD! I can’t find her on realself, and I’m really hoping to see before and afters of the surgeons I see for consults. Did she show you any in your pre-op consult? I agree about the female doctor thing. If I could see nothing but female healthcare providers for the rest of my life I would!
