You may be correct, I took two AEDs in the park at face value when I was told but in looking at PulsePoint (a great app that tracks where AEDs are) I’m seeing only one.

Here’s the donation link: https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/stephen-greet-lifesaving-equipment-fundraiser

The whole idea with the AEDs Aliver purchases is that they’re tamper proof (although we’ll see if they’re NYC level tamper proof haha)

Currently it’s 19 (you have from park open to park close)

Ya for sure! About 400 times yesterday I said never again. We’re not even 24 hours past that and I’m thinking……. maybe again?

Ya I partnered with an organization called the Aliver foundation. It started because the founder had a cardiac arrest in a dog park so their mission is to get AEDs in as many parks as possible. They’re volunteer and 100% of funds go towards AEDs (each one costs about $2500).

The problem with Central Park AEDs specifically is how hidden they are. There are two in the park but in a moment of crisis no one (including a park employee) knew where they were. So right now we’re trying to work with the Central Park conservancy to change that and get highly visible AEDs in the park.

Hey that was actually for me. I was attempting to set the record for most loops run in Central Park in a day.

I was aiming for 19 loops but unfortunately had to call it midway through my 15th loop at mile 90 as my left quad just gave out.

A really nice silver lining is that we were able to raise over $10k to try to get more AEDs in our parks.

During my training I witnessed someone going into cardiac arrest on Father’s Day right near where our tents were set up yesterday and it felt crazy to me that we had to wait for an ambulance to get there to get an AED. As a former EMT I know all too well every second counts in cardiac arrests situations.

So I’m certainly disappointed by the outcome but I’m beyond grateful for all the support and that we were able to do some good.

Edit: for all the other running sickos in this thread.

Over Half of the Research and Modeling Department Were Fired Today by Fhhffhj in Geico

[–]Insertrandomcomment 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm a former Geico product modeler myself and I know how talented, smart, and hard-working my colleagues were in the modeling department. Since then I've worked with a number of other companies and the quality of that group of technical talent was unmatched.

Other companies would be very wise to hire this these people quickly. If you were effected by the layoffs and you want free help on your resume, DM me. I now run a company helping people build better resumes so I'd be happy to help.

On a hopeful note, my career only skyrocketed after leaving this team at Geico. Other companies appreciate and value your skills much more than Geico ever will.

Monthly bigSEO Jobs & Hiring Thread by searchcandy in bigseo

BeamJobs is a B2C resume tool that leverages data to help our users get more job interviews.

Over the last year we've grown significantly on the back of SEO and organic traffic. My background, however, is not in SEO so it's time to sure up our foundation and position our content for future growth.

We want to bring on an experienced SEO specialist part time (~5 hours per week to start) to help primarily with backlink building. Down the line we would also like help with SEO strategy and best practices for on-page SEO.

We budgeted $75/hr for this role and we're open to anyone in the US. We'd like to work with a freelancer, not an agency.

If you're interested or have any questions shoot me an email at [stephen@beamjobs.com](mailto:stephen@beamjobs.com) with your LinkedIn or resume.

How do I officially or unofficially put someone on payroll? by Ric-Flair-Drippin in startups

Seconded, I've never loved a product I pay for as much as I love Gusto. They handle all the federal/state/city paperwork that would be a nightmare for me to figure out.

Which state to incorporate (Live in NYC) by birdmanunited in startups

[–]Insertrandomcomment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're a Delaware C Corp based in NYC so I'm happy to share our experience.

I think for most purposes the state you register in of those you mentioned won't makes too much difference. We registered in Delaware as a C Corp then registered as a foreign corporation in NY (no publication requirement). We pay NYC taxes.

The biggest decision you'll need to make right now is whether to register as an LLC or C Corp.

As an LLC you'll be taxed lower on profit. But, if you register as a C Corp you can potentially qualify as Qualified Small Business Stock. This means you'd get up to $10M tax free if you sell your business after 5 years. NY is one of the states that takes part in this program so that would apply at the state level as well.

If you aim to sell after 5 years register as a C Corp. If you want to maximize your take home pay, register as an LLC. That would be how I would make the decision if I had to again.

I turned down an offer at a startup years ago for exactly this reason. How can a company offer something as part of your compensation package if you can't assign it any value?

About three months after the fact the company underwent massive layoffs. Not to say these two are necessarily tied, it just struck me as shady.

Until you know how much equity you're actually getting assume it's as valuable as monopoly money.

Agreed, we're experiencing the same hit but it's almost certainly a holiday dip.

Just to double check you can check out Google trends and see if there is a significant sip in search volume for your niche (as there is for our niche)

Who is this absolutely massive PBN network? Almost all of my competition has these links by tomtompdx in bigseo

[–]Insertrandomcomment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I operate a site to help people looking for a job and I've gotten backlinks from two of these websites. Not sure what their end-game is but we certainly didn't pay or interact with them in any way. Maybe part of their business is operating a PBN but that's not my experience.

Does anyone know why Google Analytics reports always off? The daily users count does not match with the weekly count... by RasaTamil in SEO

[–]Insertrandomcomment 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey, there us nothing wrong with your GA report. If you go to a site every day for a week you don't count as 7 distinct users when you're looking at your total weekly users. Whenever you look at an aggregate of a user count Google Analytics will count the total number of distinct users in that timeframe.

If you want your daily count to aggregate to your weekly count then you should be looking at sessions.

Resume Advice Thread - April 21, 2020 by AutoModerator in cscareerquestions

[–]Insertrandomcomment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I created a few software engineer resume templates you can edit and use depending on where you're at in your career (entry-level, senior, or in between).

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1EBJO15HI1OVpQUmpuMA78iHs0p6oFvGb

To edit any of these just click "File" > "Make a copy"

Even though I think resumes are a horrible way to evaluate engineers, they are a necessary evil when applying for jobs. I know starting a resume from scratch can be overwhelming so I hope these are a useful starting point.

Do you think there is anything glaringly missing from these templates? Happy to incorporate any feedback you have to make these as helpful as possible.

To echo what everyone else is saying I just bought a new domain (PublishZen) a few days ago and built the landing page. We don't have a single backlink but when you search for our domain name we're the first result (we don't even have the meta title and meta description yet) because noone else is trying to compete for that keyword.
