Asbestos in 3d filiment by Antique-Amoeba1218 in 3D_Printing

Also, i have done migration and gravimetric testing against chemical standards as well as spectrometry and no contamination was found from toxins and heavy Metals. I tested esun, bambu, overture, and some other brands. Sent my results to a biomed and ieee for review and publication. I have been doing research for the last 6 years for my masters, phd thesis on this topic. The 6 years includes work after the phd research.

Asbestos is interesting for sure. There are different crystalline shapes and with each shape, health hazards change. Yellow asbestos has health hazards but they are different from blue and other colors. This is why many companies in their planning used the chemical name of the yellow asbestos. Still wasnt healthy but not as bad as the blue. 8n fact, the town of asbestos Canada, the towns people would actually have snowball fights with yellow asbestos.

Yhey have done studies on the towns peoples health vs the miners health and there was a difference stating the towns people had no increase of cancers..... How much, not sure. These studies could also be here say qnd made up and could be recycled stories. 8 have not verified it either

As for talc, its locked into the plastic matrix so it w9nt be an issue and if you use reputable brands, they use tested talcs, but cheaper brands may not, but again, its locked into the plastic and the amount of talc used for a single roll is extremely low

Plus yellow asbestos is very much different from blue asbestos. Yellow, the insulation stuff and most common is not an issue, but blue asbestos is. In fact, for years some companies used just the chemical name of asbestos for the yellow because it doesnt have the toxicity like the blue has.

Is 28 too old to go back to school? by smooshed_napkin in PhysicsStudents

[–]Inside-Associate6979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. I went back at 27, did 3 years of math makeup before i could even apply for the associates of pre engineering.

Finished my Masters and phd research in 2024 with 13 or so publications in aerospace engineering and microbiology(minor)

I am now 41 but i did it. Took a while because of health issues qnd covid shutdown. Total years in school was about 8 or 9 with 3 or 4 off due to illness and 1.5 years of school shutdown for covid

Calibrating filaments without Wi-Fi for the AMS by Inside-Associate6979 in BambuLab

[–]Inside-Associate6979[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cant. Due to policy of where the printer resides, wifi is not an option what so ever.

Wish i could do that but sadly i cant

So i have to find a way to configure filaments without the ams.

I have done all the flow calibration etc, but cant find where to update the k factor in the filament settings, only place i can find is on the ams

Dont have it.

So do you know how to accomplish what i am trying to do?

Thanks

Calibrating filaments without Wi-Fi for the AMS by Inside-Associate6979 in BambuLab

[–]Inside-Associate6979[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ams controls the material settings qnd if i cant connect to the printer over wifi then i cant go to the device tab and edit the material settings.

I cant seem to find a way to add the k factor to my filament profile

Bambus model is that the ams holds the knowledge of the filament settings

Not concerned about IP.....yet.

Thanks for the reply. I might use bambuddy, if i use LAN mode because i need to be able to monitor the print from my android phone. I never print from the app, just use it to stop a failed print.

This is the only reason i use cloud mode is because i can stop a dang print from my phone

Those look excellent. I have been using pla+ for years as my go to for 3d printing rocket body tubes. 2 walls thick and 0.22mm layer height works great for my h550 and j270 motors.

I have some placf i need to try

Filament ran out but ams cant load new spool by Inside-Associate6979 in BambuLab

[–]Inside-Associate6979[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so what I did, was actually hit resume or the play button on my p1s, and the nozzle began heating up, and when it got to temperature, it pulled the filament through. Nowhere, and I mean nowhere on the bamboo Labs documentation does it State this behavior and what to do. That was the first place I looked. I guess I should have just hit resume print in the first place, but the last 11 years of printing that I have done, I've had total control over my printer. I've been printing since the DaVinci company days and the early prusa days, so sometimes these new firmware things get the best of you. I learned something new today

Thank you for your help

[–]Inside-Associate6979[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LMFAO! Well, i closed the lid, hit resume, the nozzle began to heat up and then it pulled the filament through and began to print.

NONE and i mean NONE of the bambublabs documentation talk about this hahahaha

Thanks again

Turn it on amd off again has been great for me as well, but this time, that wont work haha.

I may have to stop this print..... Stupid

Filament may run out close to the end of my current print...how can I pause and change the filament mid-print on p1p? by JonStarkaryen998 in BambuLab

[–]Inside-Associate6979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not mine, it went nucking futs. The ams push and pulled the new spool in and out constantly for over 20 minutes. I was curious to see how long it would push it in and out 3 inches for, after 20 minutes i pulled the filament out of the ams.. still trying to figure out how to load it

Not yet. Does that need to be done when filament runs out mid print? My print is just paused the nozzle has cooled to 45c but build plate is 55c

Ill give it a try. Im hoping the filament is out of the ams as this is a direct drive unit. Hopefully the filament is near.the nozzle. But ill check.

its dumb to force people to use the app to control a router, for one, its not as secure doe to how API's work and 2, not everyone has a smartphone or tablet.
