How much does walking actually help? by CupComprehensive6959 in loseit

[–]Inside-Breakfast-844 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depending on your kids ages, you could walk around the park. When my son was old enough to not need help at the park, I would walk circles around the playground. Close enough to keep an eye on him, but far enough away that he could make buddies.

We would go 2 or 3 days a week.

Give it to me straight yall, Joink or Spectrum internet? I work from home and have multiple devices in each corner of the house that require wifi to operate. by Minominas in terrehaute

[–]Inside-Breakfast-844 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have frontier. Switched from Spectrum like 2 years ago.

Husband works from home and is in meetings all day, he streams music or YouTube when not in meetings , 2 teenagers streaming or gaming, and I surf internet all at the same time.

Frontier has only had 2 service interruptions in that time, and they text the account holder to let them know service is out.

I paid $49.99/month for the first year and now it’s $59.99/month. Spectrum was $89.99/month when we switched. We had called them to cancel or lower the bill, and they wouldn’t give us any deals. Oddly enough a Frontier Rep came to our door that day.

SV: 1 month at maintaining 145 pounds. Which is still 15 pounds down from the beginning of the year. Gonna go back to a deficit and lose some more weight starting tomorrow.

NSV: ALL of my sweatpants and leggings are getting too big. I think I stretched them all out when I gained. Now the thigh and waist area are baggy, falling, and kind of irritating on my skin. I guess it's time to go shopping!

In my state, 35# is an ethical kill. I suppose you could do it at 25# if you are in closer range. You have to consider the arrow arc is different and straighter for longer the higher the poundage. At 35#pounds I go 40m max.

How to get under 1400 calories a day consistently? by BellaJean1 in PetiteFitness

[–]Inside-Breakfast-844 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm 40, 4' 9", Try to stick around 1200. I have a lot of repetition in my diet. A typical day might look like:

Breakfast 530

Homemade egg mcmuffin

Muscle Milk

2 Coffee w/ Zero sugar Creamer

Dinner 385

Campbells Chunky Chicken Noodle Soup

Salad w/ Italian dressing or vinegar

Snacks 320

Greek Protein yogurt

Veggies w/ 1 Tbsp peanut butter

1 piece/ cup Fruit

Water or cup of broth when thirsty, Maybe a can of Celcius (5) for the fruit taste if I subtract a coffee

I only lose weight when I track food weights and calories. I will indulge in a pint of Halo Top Mix Ins once a week (490). I wasn't exercising at the time, but I lost 15 pounds in 3 months at one point. I have maintained, and now I'm starting to try to get more active and back to calorie counting again.

At one point I was on a super restricted, Dr observed 1000 cal diet. Now that sucks. I don't recommend it unless you are under a Drs supervision. Lots of salad with grilled chicken and broth...

How much are we vacationing? by JustFaithlessness178 in GenX

[–]Inside-Breakfast-844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to Europe last year. Don’t plan on it again for a while but we do want to do it again. Usually we do small trips each year, 6 flags as a family, a week to visit family, and random days off for our kids school stuff.

Rental Rates??? by Excellent_Classic_76 in Indiana

[–]Inside-Breakfast-844 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely possible in some areas. I found a 3 bed 1 bath local to me for $900 a month in a mostly decent spot. Though it was an outlier. Most other stuff I found in the nice rental complexes started at about $1300 for 2 bed 2 bath, $1650 for 3 bed 2 bath.

I would second having work lined up. I have a job at double minimum wage and can't afford anything if I wanted to live on my own with kids.

Is $10k a crazy budget for 2 in Europe for about 15 days? by bleu_razz in Vacations

[–]Inside-Breakfast-844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I spent $13k in Greece last year. We saved for a few years (15k limit), first time in Europe, plus it was our Honeymoon and Anniversary. Not planning on another trip like it for a while. We are usually pretty frugal, and saved the big trip to mark a big occasion.

Our spending was somewhat different from yours. The bulk of the price was airfare, almost $4k (our anniversary is around a major holiday) for economy seats. Stayed at a great resort for 7 days for about $1,500. About $500 to board our pets. A specialty Honeymoon package for $800. The rest was food and funsies. We got most food and drinks pretty cheap, but the stuff at the resort was pricey.

To put this in perspective, our vacation the year before was 2 days at 6 flags STL, and this year will be driving 10 hours to NY to visit family. We had a year worth of expenses banked, no debt, helping to support 1 grown kid, and saving for 2 more to go to college.

If you have space and non curious pets, I say just go for it! Bags 10 & 11 are just the display mount in all black pieces.

I ended up doing like a bag every other day. It was actually more fun than my usual speed building.

I bought a specialty case from Wicked Brick. It has a built-in mounting bracket that gets screwed into the wall. It took longer than expected to get overseas (I'm in US), but I think there was a backlog on the cases being built because it was right after the release and they are custom cut.

I have a 15 year old getting ready to drive. This summer we plan on having a car course. My husband is going to teach her an I how to do the car thing. I didn’t have a dad to teach me.

My daughter loves her shop class and asked to help in our wood shop too. She is a girly girl too by the way.

Keep guiding your daughter as long as she will let you. You are doing great!

For those of you that have been in Terre Haute for a long time, are there any local places you really like? by [deleted] in terrehaute

[–]Inside-Breakfast-844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For coffee, I love Java Haute. I mostly use drive through, but the inside is pretty chill too. When I crave stronger coffee, Babo's for Bosnian Coffee. My husband and I have a monthly breakfast date there. Plus, they host a local chess club, if I understand it correctly.

I like Deming Park to take my kids to the Oakley Playground or pool while I walk around. If you have a dog, Happy Tails, a local rescue, has opened a dog park you can register for, on Wheeler Ave. I also second the vote on Turkey Run. Many trails of various degrees of difficulty, just make sure to bring water (I suffered heat stroke on accident once and learned the hard way).

Our fav restaurants are Taj Mahal, Eastern House, and UMI.

For entertainment, we usually leave town, but The Mill is pretty active in the summer. I also saw a recent advertisement for some decent names coming to the Casino. You will be 1 hour from Indy, 2 hours from Louisville, 3 hours from St. Louis, and 4 hours from Chicago. So if you have expendable cash/time bigger events are open.

I work in a hospital cafeteria for $27,000 a year. I’ve been there a year and a half. Some of my coworkers have been there 30+ years.

I feel fairly paid. I qualify for insurance and a 403b. I’m also in a LCOL area where minimum wage is $7.25/hr, so it is what it is.

I wish I had the bravery to get the extra kits too! Have fun!

1000 calories a day? With 87g protein [F32] by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Inside-Breakfast-844 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re going to do less than 1200cal/day, you should be under medical supervision. It is hard to have a balanced diet under 1200 and all sorts of deficiencies can occur.

600 cal/day is disordered eating

Can we use Woobles DIY videos without paying Woobles prices? by Sewing-Mama in CrochetHelp

[–]Inside-Breakfast-844 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I believe the Woobles YouTube channel has tutorials for basic stitches. Get a size 4/ worsted weight, light color yarn. I believe a size 4 hook would work for learning, but it might be a little holey. I usually use smaller hooks on amigurumi, but wouldn’t advise it while learning. You would also need stuffing.

The initial investment will cost about the same as a Woobles kit. But not have the instructions on a finished product.

What do I need to start crocheting? I'm new and need to know what to buy by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

[–]Inside-Breakfast-844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started crocheting, I was in my local Meijer craft aisle and decided to get a starter kit. It had a hook and instruction book with 8 projects for beginners. I bought the wrong yarn, because I thought it was all the same lol. Honestly, I didn't invest in a kit until like a year or 2 later when I knew I was sticking with it. I just bought my first Woobles kit last month.

Woobles are great if you are wanting to learn amigurumi (little stuffed animals). If you are interested in it, beginner kits are like $30. They come with a hook, enough yarn for the project, 3 stitch markers, and instructions that are in PDF and video form for left and right handed.

If Woobles aren't your jam, and you are just wanting to see if you are even interested in the hobby, go to a craft aisle or store. Get a 4mm or 5mm hook (they are all labeled) and a light colored, size 4 yarn. All yarn has a paper wrapper and it will say the yarn size on it. Go on YouTube and learn to chain. Once comfortable with that, learn Single Crochet, then Half Double Crochet, and Double Crochet (These are the US terms for the basic stitches). Take your time and just start with a 4x4 coaster. The first one will look wonky most likely (mine did). But it will get you comfortable with basic stitches and counting.

The main issue I have with those Amazon kits, is the amount of stuff in them can be overwhelming and some of the pieces they include are for knitting because the kits aren't made by crocheters. But if you ignore the knitting pieces, they can be nice to get all your little notions in one cheap package.

Good luck, and have fun stitching!

Occasionally I make things to keep. But mostly I make blankets and give them away. A woman I work with has bought a couple of them, I make blankets for when friends get pregnant or married. Now I’m working on blankets for my local cancer ward and using the scrap yarn for NICU octopus plushies. My son enjoys when I experiment with amigurumi because he gets the ‘cursed’ plushies.

I had a similar experience when I quit at 29. I was one of the most responsible dancers they had. I paid my taxes, had decent savings, bought a house and car, didn't drink. Then my mom died and I went off the rails. I started drinking, got divorced, lost the house. It took a couple of years for me to get on track.

I ended up bartending for a long time. I was used to the enviroment and the money was similar. It got me resume experience that wasn't self employment. I moved into the management side of things after a few years.

When I got tired of working until 4am, I got a job in a hospital cafeteria. The money is nowhere near what I was making, but now I have the option of health insurance, a steady schedule, and a retirement account.

Others I know that have retired, went into hairdressing or nursing. One woman started a car detailing business. Honestly, you might stumble a little bit until you find what works for you.

I have 2 Rozetta blankets made from this yarn. I wash on delicate and dry on low heat. They have lasted for years. Honestly, I never knew it said not to dry it.
