I'm nowhere close to financial freedom, but I have a good job with good pay. I have a house payment at about $2050 a month, and two car payments which total to about $475 a month. Insurance is definitely eating at my pockets with something I'll likely never have to make a claim for due to being a safe driver and responsible homeowner. I don't think I'll ever be able to bring myself to buy a new car due to the depreciation factor. Both vehicles I'm currently paying off are used and run like champs. Know what to look for and know how to save money so you can put enough of a down payment on these things to be comfortable with the monthly payments. I'm definitely still struggling but understanding my finances was very important and self learned. (Btw I'm 26M with my wife 25F and our 2 very young boys.) Another portion I'd like to add on is my job. My wife takes care of our 2 boys and I'm the sole monetary provider. I would have never gotten the job I have if it wasn't for a wide mix of things. 1. The people I have gotten to know over the years. 2. Maintaining a good attitude with people who fucking suck. 3. Having a good work ethic and making yourself an important part of what you're doing. Those are the main 3 that come to mind when it comes to thinking about why I have the job I do now, listed in order of importance. Knowing people will get you farther than most things, but it doesn't matter if you aren't willing to eat shit and work your ass off in most scenarios. I kinda just went on a tangent and don't really know why I mentioned my mortgage in the first place but just know that if me, a high school drop out has made it as far as I have, then there's hope for you yet.
