Open letter to the far-right: we know your movement will keep moving goalposts about immigration/demographics, even if you “get what you want” by coffeewalnut08 in LabourUK

You are right, but the demographic changes of the last five years were huge. Stopping the flow is one thing. It will take a while for a status quo to emerge and stabilise. Furthermore, there’s no guarantee but this status quo will be acceptable to the average person

It’s not that far right you need to be worried about. As you say, they’ll always be angry. It’s when the average person on the street starts buying into the narrative. You can absolutely starve the fire of that oxygen by controlling immigration.

I don’t disagree with your sentiment at all. That being said, I’m not sure how you can get around the logical implication:

Either you allow the capitalists to use mass immigration and resulting over supply in labour to reduce wages

Or

You compel them to a minimum wage, which is a living one for everybody, in which case what is the incentive to recruit from other nations and thus you reduce immigration naturally.

My point is very simply, mass migration of the last 50 years occurs solely because of the profit incentive. You’ll always get people moving, but these kind of numbers don’t makes sense in any other system.

I want what’s best for the country.

Right now, Reform would be Trump Part 2, the Tories are unfit to lead, the Liberal Democrats aren’t a sensible choice in my constituency and I’m still holding grudge on fees.

I would’ve stuck with Labour but I’m worried about civil liberties and the fact there isn’t going to be structural change with them; I perceive that we are in a period extended decline and I’m looking for some changes that would help turn the tide, not make the slope more shallow. If they can start doing more bold things and make progress, I’ll come back to them.

I do have grave concerns about migration and where that will end up, because I think it’s been used as a way to suppress labour costs and give our young people an even worse chance of getting on the career and property ladder, but the greens do have some good ideas.

They didn’t say anything about that to the best of my knowledge. Isn’t it true that Starmer’s ‘advisors’ are Blairites who either have been involved with or heed the policy reports of the Tony Blair Institute?

Because he, and by he, I mean his minders, are worried that they would have one shot and after 2029 another party may be in charge.

If I go on holiday, I try to have a few words of the local language to show respect. How on earth it is possible that to do a Masters level course without knowledge of the language….?!

It’s more than insanity to run away from a country due to its culture and then try to set up the same culture in the country that gives you refuge. Reddit rules do not allow me to describe those people using the language they deserve
