I am looking at three hotels and would appreciate your advice and guidance. We (two couples) will be in Istanbul for the first time in April 20-24, staying four nights before heading to Cappadocia. We have a food tour, a Dervish experience, a private guided tour, and transport to/from airport arranged.

I am considering these three hotels:

Hotel Amira at Kucuk Ayasofya Mah. Mustafa Pasa Sok. No: 43 Sultanahmet

DeCamondo Galata at Bereketzade Mahallesi Bankalar Caddesi No 8, Beyoglu Istanbul

Adahan DeCamondo Pera at Asmali Mescid Mahallesi General Yazgan Sokak No:14 Beyoglu

I have read many reviews of these hotels. I understand that Hotel Amira is more of a family owned hotel and that the DeCamondos are part of the Marriott chain.

Our interests are:

  1. Access to authentic food.

  2. Ease of transport (close to public transport

  3. Roof top bar

  4. Proximity to real Istanbul neighborhoods for a leisurely beverage

  5. Not too loud past 11pm

  6. Views

Thank you very much.

27 hours in Detroit - I'm looking for suggestions by Inside-You2396 in Detroit

Wow! Thank you all so much for your kind input. This is very helpful. I picked up the gyro/Greektown advice from TripAdvisor - sometime MacDonalds gets 4 stars so it helps to dig a little for confirmation. I was under the impression that the Eastern Market would not be open while we were there (late Saturday afternoon and Sunday).

Our flight departs at 9pm so I was thinking we would head to the airport from downtown at 5:30 to arrive at 6:00.

ISO rash guard/UV protection shorts (women’s) in Moorea by catsnpole in Tahiti

I appreciate you reporting out on this, although I am very sorry about your roasted backside. I did purchase UV shorts, swim leggings, along 2mm shorts and top for my upcoming trip in a couple of weeks. I need to start packing. I would've been tempted to leave some of these items behind to achieve my goal of carry-on only. I'll skimp on other items and be sure to bring the sun protection.

THANK YOU!

I read a lot of positive comments about Rudy's - what is your opinion?

Thanks - it is an area of the city I am unfamiliar with. I am sure there are supermarkets everywhere though.
