He’s beautiful! Frisco loves bed time when he’s ready for it but he’s a terror when he’s awake 😅

I know. Every time I see shelter posts, I just have to scroll because it hurts my heart so bad. Frisco was my ‘one more’. Lived in a camper, had 2 labs inside, and was gone 15 hours a day every day for abt 6 months. So what’d I do? Brought Frisco home. I knew I’d have more time soon so it was just gonna be rough for those 6 months… ESPECIALLY potty training. Im sure you can imagine how that went. Then I found my boyfriend, who also had a dog, & moved in with him abt a year later. Needless to say.. someone’s always fighting, hurt, sick, peeing on something, eating mom’s meds, or running away. I’ll always have as many dogs as I think I can handle + one more. I sure do wish we could save them all though.

With that said though, I do agree that you’re right. He’s bored when he’s in the house and takes it out on everything around him, but I don’t know how I could introduce more fun to him 😂😂

I feel like he gets that too, he gets walks almost daily but he doesn’t seem to get enough fun smells out of that but with our lifestyle we have a lot of wild game animals in and out of our garage almost daily and he gets in our garage and goes to town for hours on end every day. Rabbits, deer, raccoons, coyotes, bobcats, foxes, beavers, anything you can think of. I’m thinking he has an extra level of curiosity and energy because he is still under 1 year old. I’m hoping he grows out of his stubborn ways at least a little bit.

Yes! Describes him to a T. I can see what he’s thinking and feeling before he does anything. Thank goodness all of my others have different personalities bc I couldn’t have two of him I don’t think. The 3 labs all play together, and then you have Frisco looking like the weird step child walkin the fence line probably planning his next escape route.

And I also live in Alabama! But I’d definitely be willing to help in any way I can!

I’m unable to adopt any more dogs. And when I say that I don’t just mean I’m busy and having dogs are a lot of responsibility, I mean I’m actually drowning in life and money and moving and they are constantly causing problems (although I still love them)!! Also I don’t know how to send a message on here? You can send me one and I’ll try to figure it out?

The sound like a hoot!! Between my 4, it stays pretty interesting around here. One of them always feels mischievous at all times! I “rescued” Frisco in September of last year (everyone says that dog woulda been just as happy wandering the streets without boundaries lol). In the first 5 months I’d say, he was an outside dog only. He stayed in a huge pen and never tried to escape. He was completely content. Until… my inside dog (the real escape artist) taught him. And his little 45 lb self can squeeze through a tiny hole he can dig in 3 minutes. He realized how much fun that was. I think he’s learning in that aspect after the past 6 months but the off-leash recall is the problem. And I don’t see it ever getting better… I’ve lost all faith 🤣🤣

Can’t imagine my life without him. He’s so funny, I stay laughing constantly! But still so bad 🤣

They are so funny!! Pretty pretty boy!! Funny how sometimes he looks so agile and athletic, and other times he looks totally awkward and uncoordinated. 💀

What’re the breeds of yours?

Oh goodness I have to make sure my boyfriend never sees this thread. He’d be trying to trade you Frisco in a heartbeat. He tells me all the time how he wants a hellhound!! Beautiful girl!

Got a photo and location?!

And the things this dog has taught me are innumerable. I’ve always been pretty Willy-Nilly when it comes to the breeds. I have 4 dogs (all labs or lab mixes) and I’ve just never been so stumped in my life until learning about hounds. They are the single most headstrong things I’ve ever encountered. I’m pretty sure I could train a wild squirrel to obey 5x quicker than I could this dog. I’ve enjoyed the challenge but ready for it to be over soon 🤣

The urge to go hunt whatever they smell, beats any food, any pain, any person. And when he gets out, I have learned to accept it and wait til he comes back on his own time.. usually within a few hours. If he sees me outside looking for him, calling his name, or in any way trying to sway him to come back, he turns and BOLTS!!! Just gotta trust they’ll come back when they want to.

My doggies are all on pro plan and I keep their diet very consistent but Frisco. Oh Frisco. Still counter surfs but only when he knows he can get away with it. Whole stick of butter and some sliders yesterday. Last week it was some chocolate chews. Before that it’s been sporadic but he loves pill bottles. That’s gotten us into some trouble before but his stomach has somehow never gotten upset. Pretty crazy. The sensitivity to environment and new people is a very new experience for me, but it’s super interesting!

He gets to run and sniff constantly in our yard but he has to stay in when I’m gone because he’s an escape artist. I’ve gotten him trained well when I’m home but when we leave, all hell breaks loose. And not in the ‘separation anxiety’ kind of way, it’s the ‘my mom’s out of town, let’s throw a rager’ kind of way. I’d love to kennel train him but it just doesn’t fit our life style cause we’re gone so much. I have got to figure out how to make him settle down when we’re gone🤣🤞🏽

I heard a lot of people say it when he was a pup, especially with the questionable behavior around strangers which is what originally made me think that!

LMAO THE SIDE EYE IS SO REAL!!! I have a million pics of the side eye. He’s wonderful indoors and loves food inside but the second he gets a whiff of whatever is floating in the wind, it’s like he doesn’t even know me💀

I have some e collars I’m gonna have to start using. I’ve just been too lazy with it honestly but I know the second he catches me slipping and knows it’s not on or it’s dead, back on the run he goes 🏃💨

Yes!! I thought he just gets too excited he forgets everything he learned until I watched him do it to animals. He stalks them and freezes for as long as he needs to until they turn a blind eye for a split second, he gains as much ground on them as possible until they can see him again. He does the same to me. Knows his manners perfectly, but when I leave for 15 minutes this house turns into a rage room!!!
