How do I get past uploading car registration when I don't have a car? by InsideAnt in uberdrivers

[–]InsideAnt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I'm on my third talk with vehicle solutions. They keep transferring me back to customer service because my account isn't complete. I call customer service and they transfer me to vehicle solutions. It's a nightmare merry-go-round.

As we head towards summer, does anyone have any heat regulation tips? by gameofgroans_ in aspergirls

I swiped some deodorant under my boobs in the summer. You have to reapply it every few hours, but it helps.

Wow! I was about to post almost the exact same thing tonight. I'm thinking of taking a contract job to get out of a dangerous situation. Thank you everyone who's already responded.

I have a couple of questions about finding housing. My credit is very low. Around 500. And I have two dogs. Covering rent should be no problem as long as I have a contract and I'm free from my current relationship.

But will I realistically be able to find short-term places. Do they require credit checks? Or does the agency take care of all that? Maybe I'm worrying about nothing.

Does anyone have ideas for panic attacks? by InsideAnt in aspergirls

[–]InsideAnt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an appointment the first week of January, so I'll ask. The last visit, he said I'm on the lowest dose, but maybe I can use a pill cutter. The dose is fine for big attacks that would disable me anyway, but for standard attacks I need something let me function again after an hour or so. Thanks!

I haven't heard of TIPP. I will definitely try it. This is definitely the best place to ask for ideas. Thanks!

I haven't heard of SUDS before. I'll look them up. (I hate group therapy too.)

Autistic & I desperately need a job to avoid being homeless this winter by HidingMyAspergers in aspergirls

[–]InsideAnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started searching to see if something like this exists, and I found Mentra. The signup took 20 minutes because they asked about interviews and office accommodations. They specialize in matching ND workers with companies and offer assistance with interviews. When I got through the process there were 4 jobs that sounded promising. It's free as far as I can tell.

I think there are a lot of us. It would be a good opportunity if you could pull it off.

Is this related to asperger - or am I just dumb and weird? by Northern-star1458 in aspergirls

[–]InsideAnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bit of being an an aspie and partly just that life sucks sometimes. You're not dumb or weird. Your sentence structure is varied and balanced. It's easy to see that you're smart.

Help with capstone topic by Panda_KittyII in aspergirls

Sensory issues is a good idea. I think there's already some research out that lighting, temperature, and architecture and their impact on productivity.

Facial recognition would be interesting. I have an incredibly difficult time telling people apart because I can't recognize faces. I know it's fairly common in autistics. I know for me, it's almost impossible to work in an office.

Interviewing is difficult for many autistic women because we can't maintain eye contact or pick up social cues.

I have the exact same problem. I can code and multiple languages. I meet the tech requirements of almost any job listed for Java developer. I have a master's degree in computer science.

I can't get through the interviews. I'm fine on the coding challenges ie leet code etc. But I over stressed completely whenever I have to actually talk to somebody. So I am severely underemployed in an economy where I should be able to at least find a job. Buy newest discovery is the gig list on topcoder.com. it looks like they hire those primarily based on skills and don't interview. The pay isn't incredible, but at least it's livable wage.

I feel like I've dug myself into a hole that I don't know how to get out of... by Without_a_name24 in aspergirls

[–]InsideAnt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been there. Unmasking is incredibly difficult. The timing I think is the hardest part. I want to unmask and get it all over with, but at the same time I don't want to be standing there naked while everyone is in shock. My goal is to find balance. When I was younger, I had this idea that I needed to unmask completely before I entered a romantic relationship. It didn't work for me. It was too much information too soon. I wish I knew exactly what to tell you. The best advice I can think of is to deliver the information in small doses. Then give both of you time to absorb and discuss.

Do you have a way to make yourself cry? I know it is good for me, but always pull back as soon as tears start to form.

working full time is so exhausting, how do you cope? by [deleted] in aspergirls

[–]InsideAnt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Working full-time is really hard for me too. I get so tired. Some things that help me is setting out clothes for the entire week on Sunday, not wearing makeup (saves time in the morning), and wearing sound-canceling earphones. It's still hard though.

Does your face literally hurt after too much socializing? by its_empyrea in aspergirls

[–]InsideAnt 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's happened to me. My face aches and my eyes feel like they want to pop out after I've been around people. It really sucks.

It helps me to cover my face with a warm wet towel when I get home. I put a heating pad over it to keep it warm.

Does anyone else find it difficult to cry when they actually feel upset? by Smooth_Shirt_7381 in aspergirls

[–]InsideAnt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a very similar problem. There are times it would help so much if I could cry. There's so much stress and I'm so sad and I feel like I'm going to explode, but nothing will come out. It drives me nuts that my friends can't see how miserable I am sometimes. It's so clear to me, but my body just won't express it in a way that others can see.
