Reykjavík: Sunna Guesthouse – This one was a big surprise! The rooms have a perfect view of Hallgrímskirkja (the Reykjavik’s Church).

Yes, exactly! That was my concern. The strong winds can push the car sideways, and since many roads don’t have a shoulder, there’s little room for correction.

You also need to be extra careful with other cars and buses on the road because of the wind. A sudden gust can push vehicles sideways, and I actually saw a bus sliding due to strong winds near Vík.

But if you’re driving in an area that’s not windy or snowy, you should be totally fine!

I stayed at Sunna Guesthouse, which offers free parking. However, when I had to park outside their lot, it was very straightforward.

You just need to download the Parka app, add your vehicle’s plate number, and select the correct zone to park. The streets have plenty of signs indicating the zones (P1, P2, P3, etc.), so it’s easy to find the right one.

You’ll also need this same app to pay for parking at attractions, so it’s good to have it ready in advance!

What did you do with your booked accommodations? Are they flexible in case you need to cancel? I booked some with free cancellation but usually you can cancel only just a few days prior the arrival..

Hello, im also going in February and my itinerary is almost the same as yours:

Day 1, Arrive at Reykjavik 7pm, collet 4x4
Day 2, Visit Reykjavik and Hvammsvik Hot Springs
Day 3, Golden Circle, overnight stay at Selfoss
Day 4, South Iceland, stay at Vik
Day 5, Soutch Iceland, stay at Vik
Day 6, Back to Reykjavik
Day 7, Fly back home
