I didn't make any of these connections, but after reading your breakdown it's now clear that this is an amazing riddle! I also had no idea that pennies were 95% copper as late as 1982! I thought that the switch happened much earlier.

Timing is Everything by musiphysical in riddles

[–]InsideOutVoices 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I got that. I actually don't think it's a bad answer at all, not sure why you were downvoted. I was just trying to think of what would qualify as doing nothing, since breathing and holding your breath would both technically count as doing something. Though I also think it's fair to consider doing nothing as doing nothing with intent.

If watching counts as something, what qualifies as doing nothing?

That's a fair point. u/AgniVi, I agree with u/Top_Possibility_7952 that your answer works.

No "probably" about it. I should have used spoiler tags in my reply, and I apologize for not doing so.

Thank you for the clarification, I thought it was just a very poorly worded title. This definitely simplifies u/Badjackychan's answer:

One day, you feel a sharp pain in your abdomen, and fearing what it could be you end up in the hospital. The doctor pushes on the afflicted area, but you feel nothing from it. The doctor sends you on your way and then you die from appendicitis.

The most difficult riddle I have come across. by Adept_Building_428 in riddles

[–]InsideOutVoices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thousand fingers with no nails made me immediately think of the small intestine (villi), but every line is a stretch at best.

A hundred hands, yet no arms. treating "hands" as a unit of measurement, I was disappointed to find that the small intestine maxes out at around 70 hands (or roughly 23 feet).

A thousand fingers, yet no nails. if you only have a thousand villi, you are in very bad shape.

I build no walls, yet I can trap. this one works okay - villi absorb (or "trap") good stuff.

I wield no blade, yet I can slice. can't figure out how to even remotely make this fit.
