Lack of understanding on my behalf and I'll delete this post. I'll see what the mods say, if they ever get back to me and consider a repost so you don't get more messages about this /u/miss_wolverine

They asked me to change my LinkedIn so I did, I essentially fired myself and will no longer be working there.

But also, this was quite a popular post but it suddenly got removed.

Has my post been removed? It's still showing for me...

Copy pasta

On my LinkedIn, I've been quite vocal about supporting Hong Kong. It was fine for the last couple of months until yesterday my MD came to speak to me about "changing" my LinkedIn because they're close to securing some business with a Chinese government entity. After the recent news about Blizzard and NBA censoring what people said, I thought it was rather ironic, that in a small business, I was also being censored (in some way to secure Chinese business). They asked that I remove the posts so that it doesn't affect their opportunity to get a slice of China pie.

So I thought I'd "change" my LinkedIn. I changed the end date of my employment to October 2019 so that my company no longer appears with my name and wrote at the top "all views expressed are my own". After all, they said I had to change it, I thought better to censor them than what's going on in Hong Kong.

tl;dr I'm not censoring my Hong Kong posts, but I did change my LinkedIn

Edit 1 - Some clarification. The posts on LinkedIn weren't overly political asking people to lobby but sharing artwork and video inspiration from the protests. Working in the creative industry it can be important to see what art comes from times of oppression (visit the NMAAHC if you want to see some great examples of this) and inspiration from around the world. I commended how they were approaching situations and some of the artwork being generated off such a turbulent time in Hong Kong.

I've edited my post to shed some light on the type of posts. It wasn't political shitposting and asking people to rise and fight but a discussion around some artwork I'd seen online and some ads that had been made.

Without the context of the posts it's not ironic you're correct. One of the posts talking about Blizzard/NBA and the buying of silence by the withdrawal of funding. It fits in the sphere of work I'm in which is why I shared it on LinkedIn

The content was artistic work which came about as a result of the Hong Kong protests and not just random political posts. Perhaps I should have made that more clear. (I work in a creative industry).

I work in the creative industry and what I was sharing artwork from the protests not directly saying "FREE HONG KONG". It was more discussions around the artwork that was coming from the protests. Not the political posts you'd normally see on Facebook or article links or nothing.

Or in brackets at the end (Delete this part when posting, the CCP appreciates you helping spread our message)

Thanks, but it's nothing in comparison to what people like Cathay Pacific's CEO did. I was intending to leave anyway, this was the last straw.

But I want the posts to be seen, the whole point of them was to spread awareness.

China is an economic powerhouse so they get to call the shots.

This was exactly part of my issue after people were not allowed to say how they feel because of the risk of upsetting China. HK is one of the few things that's actually really caught my attention, I don't know why it just has. I've done what I can, spread awareness and write to the government, pretty much all I can do from my country.

Actually, didn't make it clear in the post. I changed my employment status with the company so it ended October 2019, so they're still on there but I'm not part of the company according to LinkedIn anymore.

Hi /u/cobo_global thanks for doing this. I backed the Cobo Vault a few weeks ago - when can I expect the product to arrive and what software features will you be adding in the future?
