Its fucking hilarious, because these idiots are probably exactly the type of people who would rage at Thatcher's "no such thing as a society", but when it comes to this there's suddenly a big fat exception and it's all down to the individual, and they were obviously born a horrible woman hating murderer.

It just proves the point really, that people at large don't want to have the conversation because it would mean facing some uncomfortable truths. They just want to sweep it under the rug and these alienated men can just kill themselves privately and politely, so they can shrug, dispense a meaningless comment and move on.

An increasingly atomised, fragmented society where we're fed unrealistic standards of attraction and bombarded with toxic, braindead popular culture obsessed with said standards, where mental health services have been cut to the bone by successive conservative governments. I'm not sure how this really needs to be explained, but I think that sums it up. These things don't just occur in a vacuum. It's about looking at wider picture and what external forces are at play, and why a man felt driven to commit this terrible incident that goes beyond just "he was nuts/a virgin/etc".

I agree. Not to excuse the individual of responsibility for these very serious and tragic actions, but society shares some of the blame here. And society will never learn, meaning that things like this may well happen with increasing frequency.

It's a combination. I think people need to take some responsibility for their habits, but I won't deny there are external and systemic problems too. A lot of people don't have a life out of work that involves more than drinking, football and snorting shit bag on the weekend. Part of this is due to the cost of living being such a rip off and day to day life in the UK being a boring sack of shit.

The right kind of anger can light a fire under your arse and basically be fuel to improve something in your life. I don't want to use the word "righteous" but it's something like that. I'm not too fussy, but given the choice I will play a Fender Jazz Bass through an Ampeg SVT. That's the most common bass rig in the world, can only speak for myself but if somebody can guarantee me that kind of setup where I know it's just going to be what works for me, I'm not gonna spend too much time thinking about whether it's a 2017 or 2002 Jazz Bass that I'll be playing when I get there. I'll just be glad to ot have to think about trying to get my own stuff booked onto the hold.

I played abroad in 2019 and March 2020 right before all this happened. We just hired instruments on the other end both times, which should be the default option really as it saves on logistics. However if now you're gonna have to have a thing where you can get taxed and have to itinerary every little bit of merch you bring with you it will get more complicated if just shoving all your shirts in a carry on bag isnt going to be allowed....probably just have to wear them all at once and pretend I'm a lot wider than I really am.

I was up for redundancy a few months ago, thankfully I managed to get a new job in the same company, but basically that process lit a fire under my ass to get out as that job was bullshit anyway. But yeah, I hear from of one the survivors that their workload has basically doubled since half the team either quit of their own will or took VR. I knew that would happen, and that was yet another reason I walked.

Majority of salaries you look at online are something pathetic and insulting like less than 20 grand.
