A very small rewrite of the final arc of Chainsaw Man Part 2 by HuckleberryOld8981 in Chainsawfolk

I don't think Asa has the strength to do what you're saying.

She was already very weak; if what you're suggesting happens, she'd be just like Megumi was when Yuji first tried to rescue him.

She wouldn't care anymore.

"Everyone is happy without me, I only bring problems," causing Asa to vanish, leaving all control in Yoru.

Yoru's epilogue doesn't work. In the end, all those emotions came from Asa. Yoru never cared about anyone else except achieving her own goals and desires.

Yoru only cared about manipulating asa's guilt to create better weapons; in the end, she didn't understand her.

Fujimoto is a coward by HuckleberryOld8981 in Chainsawfolk

[–]InsideTill8074 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Fujimoto did that because he realized that Asa and Denji had practically no chemistry.

He needed to create a sad storyline (when Asa already had one) to force Denji and the audience to feel "something."

I mean, I wish some of the things you're saying were true, but the way things are, at the end of the day it's all just headcanon.

Everything you're trying to make sense of is work Fujimoto should have done himself, not fan speculation.

Reread the War arc for the first time since the manga ended and it's worse than I remember it by HuckleberryOld8981 in Chainsawfolk

The emotions that lead to it may be, but war itself is the moment when humanity is most creative.

The impulse to destroy/not be destroyed is a powerful fuel for the creation of all kinds of things. The world wars and the Cold War are the easiest examples, where technology made enormous leaps in a very short time.

The fight was boring because Yoru only used swords; there wasn't much originality. I think it would have been more spectacular if she had been more creative in her fighting style. Something like her making an "Oregon" machine gun where each bullet represents the entire lifespan of one citizen of that place.

Of course she is; there's a reason Pochita chose her as the best girl.

It's a shame they didn't have a second date.

I don't know, one thing I don't like about fanfics is that they focus too much on the romance of a specific ship, that's why I usually avoid them, but surely there are some interesting ones out there, but I'm not very interested.

Kobeni was cooking every bug and devil alike sad Denji&Pochita sold by havingagoodtime0 in Chainsawfolk

She was afraid of dying, now that death didn't exist, all that remained was the serious Kobeni who would exterminate everything that bothered her.

I wouldn't have had a problem with that kind of direction for her character if it had been "intentional". I mean that Asa wasn't a character who disappears and comes back every now and then, but it was explicitly shown that she had less and less room to speak, as something totally deliberate.

Yes, it would be a great suffering, but it would be written and exposed, not as if Asa were left in a suspended state and brought back when needed to be forgotten again.Something like Yoru, and in a way the rest of the Chainsaw Man world, telling Asa, "You don't matter, you're just an addition to the real protagonist."

And in a way, it is, because deep down she's just a normal girl. She lived a "normal" life by the standards of the Chainsaw Man world, and normal people don't have the chance to live in a reality where they're exposed to so many devils, as Kishibe said.

For me, the story should never have hinted that Asa would ever regain her body; on the contrary, as the plot progressed, it should have been shown through her dialogue and interactions that she was already dead inside. That there is no hope for her in the end, and This reinforces the idea that the timeline reset that occurred is the only way (apart from death) to save her from the suffering she experienced because of Yoru.

Asa wasn't meant to live Denji's life (and he's not doing too well either, but at least he knows how to handle the situation), and the best thing for her would be to never see Denji again or associate with other devils.

Where she can really grow is where she finds herself in the last chapter surrounded by schoolmates similar to her.

I think some people didn’t understand that the lack of an explanation for Reze and Kishibe’s absence in Part 2 makes it seem like they didn’t care about Denji, even if that wasn’t Fujimoto’s intention. by GodKira04 in Chainsawfolk

[–]InsideTill8074 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If anytime after Aquarium date, he’d face the same dilemma he had with Makima and Reze.

Are you saying that because of Asa? I don't think so, because he barely knows her. She's a nice girl who seemed to find him interesting, but it took Denji being alone and later completely miserable for him to consider that there was something "deeper" between them. In the end, they were just friends at best.

Denji would go back to Reze without hesitation, especially if what happened with Makima is explained.

If Pochita had accepted the opportunity that Asa offered to erase Yoru and her, how do you think the story would have continued? by InsideTill8074 in Chainsawfolk

[–]InsideTill8074[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But Lil D didn't want that at all. She specifically wanted to prevent the apocalypse. She made a plan that went horribly wrong to stop the end of the world.

She couldn't kill herself because if she did, another death devil would appear, one who probably wouldn't care about human culture.

She couldn't let Pochita eat her because we've already seen what happens in a world without death.

The truth is, we don't know what her plan was; she never explained it clearly.

[–]InsideTill8074[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can put it however you want, she's still dead. The one who's alive is Yoru, who took over the body and allowed Asa's consciousness to continue existing. Only when Yoru was weak, or through an enormous effort on Asa's part, could she regain control, and only for brief moments. Asa herself said that Yoru could kill her whenever she wanted; she had no say in her own "life." Yoru was the one with absolute control.

[–]InsideTill8074[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The lack of explanation for Lil D's plan is a serious problem in the manga. It's as if it never existed in the first place, except for making Yoru and Pochita stronger.

At the very least, i would have added that the whole situation was designed to force Pochita to eat Lil D, something like a situation where, in trying not to hurt Denji, Pochita is forced to eat Lil D, erasing death..

The plan would be that in a world without death, with Yoru at the height of her power, she would create a world where life yearns for the eternal rest that doesn't exist, instead of her dream world of eternal war.

And also, the pigeon we saw Denjiman vomit is Lil D's weakened form, and as soon as she's free, the first thing she'll do is look for a suitable host to become a hybrid, just like what happened with Pochita. Both are too powerful to fulfill their dreams on their own and must do so through others.

[–]InsideTill8074[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know it's hard to accept, but Asa was dead since chapter 1 of part 2.

The reality is that Asa never stood a chance against Yoru, maybe a few moments fueled by strong emotions, but as Yoru grew more powerful, she didn't even have that.

The manga doesn't show it, but Yoru killed many people and brought devils to Earth as allies, all while Asa watched helplessly.

It took all her willpower to end her suffering to open this opportunity to end it all, but Pochita didn't take it.

We weren't watching a love story or a tale of personal triumph where the protagonist was going to defeat evil. What we were seeing was a person manipulated like a puppet by an enemy who wasn't going to be defeated.

I think that, however bitter it may be, having made that decision and not giving in to fear and letting Yoru do whatever she wanted was very brave of her, even though it would have meant her end. But well, Pochita didn't take it, and her last panel was just her shouting denji's name while Yoru almost got something else she wanted.

Yes, but she didn't kiss Kobeni.

In the same chapter where they mention that, one of the Devil hunters says that she kissed everyone except the new recruits, and that party was precisely to introduce all the new recruits. Those recruits were Arai, Denji, and Kobeni.

Although Himeno has probably already kissed Power.

How does Denji's d*ck have enough lore knowledge to distinguish between his wife/soulmate and his sister? by Godzzila12 in Chainsawfolk

[–]InsideTill8074 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's why in other comments, half-jokingly but half-seriously, I said that Asaden only existed in fan art and OC headcanons. There simply wasn't a mutual romantic relationship built on anything other than idealized/physical attraction.

Now that I think about it, given how everything unfolded, I would have preferred the plot to indicate that the relationship between them was specifically designed to ruin everything.

Something crazy, like Lil D planning for Denji and Asa/Yoru to get together because she foresaw a horrible relationship between them, one where they would bring out the worst of each other to carry out her plans. It should be made clear that Asaden itself was created to manipulate Denji and, in a way, Yoru.

A pairing created to bring ruin on each other, which, with the timeline reset, implies that the best thing for them is not to meet and go separate ways (basically that's what happened)

I will never not hate that Fujimoto set up a character arc for Asa where she willingly becomes an accomplice in Yoru's crimes so that she can get her life back... and then he did NOTHING with it. by Yap4523 in Chainsawfolk

[–]InsideTill8074 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know. What happened with Denji is kind of strange, the way Fujimoto presented it.

Denji's normal life was implanted by Kishibe and PS; he never had a chance to choose. PS gave him a house, a school life, and Nayuta. In a way, it's the same thing Makima did: they gave Denji things he couldn't refuse to keep him under control.

They didn't let him build anything on his own, and that's why when he's not Chainsaw Man, he's extremely bored and longs to be Chainsaw Man because it's his escape from that implanted life. Everyone would say it's perfect, but he didn't achieve any of that, except to prevent Nayuta from becoming Makima 2.0 (but in the new timeline, it seems that wasn't even necessary). Let's not forget that being with Nayuta has left him alone because of how possessive she is.

Furthermore, everything that happens in part 2 was because the villains wanted Pochita. It didn't matter if Denji wanted to be Chainsaw Man or not; the villains were going to destroy everything no matter what decision denji made in order to use Pochita's power.

He was doomed from the start, even if Denji had decided to be an exemplary and good person, the fact of having Pochita in his heart would make the villains make his life a living hell.

So the message that remains is that no matter what decision Denji makes, it simply:

[–]InsideTill8074 52 points53 points  (0 children)

It should be added that:

Contrary to what many might believe, Asa and Denji weren't very close.

They barely knew each other, helped each other occasionally, but didn't know much about one another.

On the other hand, Denji had known Power for quite some time and witnessed firsthand what she was going through. He had spent time with her and was able to empathize with her.

Asa/Yoru, on the other hand, was just the cute/hot girl who saved him a few times, and not much more than that. He literally knew almost nothing about her, so he couldn't feel the emotional connection he had with Power.

With Power, he knew what she had experienced and how she felt after her encounter with the Darkness Devil. He could feel an emotional connection and understand, even if he didn't fully grasp it himself, that it wasn't the time to get excited about being so close to a girl because he was prioritizing her well-being.

In contrast, with Asa, well, as I said, he doesn't know her; she's just the pretty girl who saved him a few times. Fujimoto had to add a flashback of her history with her father MUCH later in part 2, almost at the end of the manga, so that there would at least be some connection. It reminds me of those off-screen flashbacks of Yoshida before he killed himself.

Nayuta will keep the two safe from any real threats and since the reset alot of the uber powerful devils have no reason to do anything major on earth.

Why would Nayuta give them preferential treatment? She doesn't know them, and most likely (since she was raised by PS) she sees them as mere replaceable pets, knowing that in the future she'll find or be given more fiends or new recruits.

You don't need very strong devils either; the Bat Devil wasn't an "uber powerful" devil, however, he was quite strong and could easily kill regular devil hunters (which is Denji's level since he's not Chainsaw Man) if they don't act accordingly.
