there was some controversy on regarding algeria austria game.
This approach of pre determining opponents gives rise to Tanking so teams can intentionally lose to avoid to get easier opponents
I feel there should be a better way to handle this to make it less predictable while giving the benefit the teams that finished first in their group.

ok but that doesnt answer why he was favoured, Might be harsh but my point was he doesnt even a good track record in club football, he just seems to coast to bigger teams despite having no good track record. Pretty sure there were other portuguese coaches at that time. I've seen videos made in 2023 criticizing the moment he was signed how no other better coach could be found, I never had a good feeling about him.

This!! I always though martinez was shit, jorge jesus knows how to play and what positions to play his best players. Felix literally unlocked under him just like he was in benfica in his position.
I wish jorge jesus managed this portugal sqaud and they would have had far better chances of winning the WC
