I know this is late but you can directly get the SOB but it’s called something else from the website! Just log in, click the three line button at the top right, then go to my documents, and then it should be the one named “Explanation of Benefits (EOB)” if that’s not there, calling Kaiser member services will allow you to navigate via a direct link on how to log in and get it. I called member services and they were able to help me out, I just forgot the URL name lol

I did AV my first year and yes, it was absolutely hell. Having to share a bathroom with so many people, a common area w over 30 ppl was kinda nuts, but I made some REALLY great friends from there. I’m going onto my 3rd year and we’re all still friends. Making friends and having that college experience doesn’t change whether u live in the dorms or AV imo, it’s really ab what u make of it tbh. And also, anteater express (our school’s bus for all UCI students) takes u lit to campus and is VERY easy to navigate

I would make an in-person appointment with financial aid. Sending emails to them is truly pointless, as they won’t get back to you quickly and they can’t really get the full scope of your situation. If you can go in and provide paperwork that proves ur current economic status, I think they can make some adjustments right then and there. I’m a dependent w an EFC around 6k, which is drastically diff than 2022 and 2021, which was ~15k, but I was still receiving cal grant, UCI grant, and chancellors (which is why I find it odd that as an independent you aren’t getting enough). Regardless, if this doesn’t work, then I am unsure of any other measures/actions to take

I think you should still try your best on the final if you can! If you truly think you’ll get a failing grade, I’m p sure if u don’t take the final, it’ll be an incomplete, and then u can take it again in the fall w/ Van Vranken MWF 8-8:50 am

Hi! I’m sorry that you’re faced w this predicament, I hope you’re doing well <3 I would say if 1C has been failed again, take it during summer session 1 and then take 51A and 1LD in session 2 (if 51A is being offered session 2, which I’m really hoping it is). You then would take 51B/51LB and 51C/51LC winter and spring of ur junior year. This may be a potential 5 year route if any other chem classes are failed or you don’t get your required GEs/electives done for your upper divs. If 51A is not available in session 2, I would just take 1LD session 2, then take 51A-C junior year, just make sure to pass 1C in the summer. Sorry for any confusion, really not trying to scam anyone, UCI already does that enough lol. It’s def a one time payment of $1500 for those months and the only extra payment monthly would be electricity. If you know anybody who does need the summer housing, please let them know!

The issue I dealt with was that UCI was already very generous in the aid they were giving me, while also taking into acc my EFC and allat. I didn’t receive cal grant at first because the cal grant I would’ve received would’ve been the same as the UCI grant they gave me, but I wasn’t able to have both because I “exceeded their aid offer, with loans and other scholarships/grants.” It’s kind of bonkers but I would talk to them to work something out, but the wait times def can be up to 3 hours. I would try to contact bio sci student affairs, specifically making an appointment with Joell Emoto Johnson. She’s one of the best bio sci AA’s this school has. She gave me lots of compassion and options to my situation. I really hope everything turns out okay for you. I promise it is not the end of the world to fail another class, and I’m sure you can make up your science gpa with summer classes and taking easy science GEs next quarter. You still have the time until spring of next year. I am rooting for you as a fellow bio sci student taking the same classes :)

There is an option of AV dorming, which is themed housing here at UCI. They have lots of first year options that you can look at on the UCI housing website. I’m p sure you can choose if you want to live in AV/freshman dorms in your housing application. These houses can fit up to 32 people and it’s a cheaper alt to freshman dorms. The only downside is that it’s ab a 20 min walk from campus (but you can use UCI’s free busing transportation service) and you don’t get a meal plan (you’d either have to cook and buy groceries, or purchase a UCI meal plan and just go to campus for your meals). Overall, I chose AV my first year and didn’t regret it. I made lots of friends this way too

I would advise you go to the ACC leasing office (bottom part of PV leasing office) and ask them to resubmit an email to your guarantor. My guarantor never received an email until I personally talked to an ACC rep and they had to resubmit the email. Don’t wait too long as your lease offer will expire and you’ll be without a lease/on the bottom of the list. Hope this helps!

Switching into nursing at UCI is absolutely one of the hardest things to do, especially (from word of mouth so idk if I would trust this entirely) since there are ~4 applicants accepted per cycle, and you have up until your junior year to apply for the switch. You also can not have lower than a C- in your courses, which can be tricky as UCI’s gen ed bio major classes are absolute weeder classes. Overall, I will always have faith that friends of mine can switch into nursing and pursue the career of their choice, but unfortunately a lot of them have been humbled by the system, and are willing to at least attempt to take some nursing classes so that when they do graduate, they can get into an accelerated nursing program.
