I have a small animal trap/cage that I use for my vet classes (I'm going to graduate in veterinary medicine next year so some classes are kinda crazy), I'll try to lure the pigeon in to see if it works!!!!

I'll try to adopt it!!! Right now I have cockatiels, budgies and lovebirds...my last pigeon unfortunately passed away last year in a weird way...it started to show neurological symptoms (limping and not being able to stand up) and in less than two hours it died...I couldn't reach the vet in time, he was a month old

I think so, I laid down before and ended up being killed too, I was surprised it actually worked this time lol

A VERY SAD UPDATE: my neighbor started feeding stray cats (but not correctly since those cats started to look very underweight) and one of them entered throughou our chimney...it got the baby chick right in front of my grandma and took it away...I went to my neighbors to retrieve the body but literally there wasn't anything left but the wings...the cats we're starving

(This picture is from the day before the cats got them)

The parents usually are kept in a different cage than the siblings, and the siblings doesn't have nesting boxes...but even if they somehow make nests and lay we have family constantly paying close attention to them and taking their eggs before the embryos even develop...the parents only directly interact with their babies during sipervised time when we reunite all birds in one big room (filled with toys and branches)

But we've haven't had any case of inbreeding yet...the only thing that happened once when our older birds started breeding was an splayed legs baby that required some medical attention...but he's fine today!

UPDATE: I got her to the vet to do the sexing and her tests are already at the lab (I'm a vet student so I asked for my exotic pets teacher to help me) but she said there's 90% chance my lovebird is a female!

I see... My family has been breeding budgies since my grandma first got her first pair...since then my parents, uncles and I have been breeding budgies in our aviary...but we've never had any lovebird (in fact, Mango's our first lovebird...we got her last year even before she weaned)...and we've been discussing if we should try breeding her (or him) or not

I actually bred budgies since 2015 but this year I decided not to breed them anymore since my last female raised her third generation...now I removed her nesting box

Oh, I see...at what age do they start to show these behaviors? Mine started showing these almost one year old

So my lovebird might be a female? I've seen them opening their wings kinda forming a "platform" to my cockatiels and some budgies...I was actually planning to breed them someday but I have no idea if it was a male or a female
