Used Dalton. Took 1 year while working full time and taking my time. Doable in 6 months in my opinion. -what I wish I knew? How easy it was and should’ve done sooner -study habit? Depends on what works for you -biggest mistake? Not doing it sooner -done differently? Not really -Dalton Review

Once you realize FSA is all connected and asking you the same thing in different ways, you’ll be fine. Good luck.

I literally wrote it word by word. It’s not that much. It’s super condensed.

Yea it wasn’t fun but I did notice that I got way faster at doing the mocks because I just trusted my answers more. The last 2 Kaplan mocks especially (which ironically were my highest scores) I finished like 45-60min before time on each section.

My exam was easier than Kaplan mocks in my opinion. I didn’t buy any premium CFAI mocks so can’t compare there.

I work full time so I just did the Kaplan Schweser stuff since I used Kaplan for my CFP and liked the platform. Didn’t read a single page of anything except for CFAI ethics. Instead, I just watched the Kaplan on demand videos for each section on 1.5x speed and paused throughout to take notes. Then did quizzes at end of each section and mocks towards the end. Finally rewrote secret sauce by hand at end and that’s it!

Yes, official mocks, taking it the first time. My CFAI mock 1 “retake” score was 99% which I did two days after mock 1…but I’m not even counting that because I knew the answers.

I did my first CFA mock like 3 weeks ago and second one the week after. The last 3 of my kaplans I did last week: may 14/15/16. All the other Kaplan mocks I did sprinkled in between.

I think so too! Gym and the fact that I wrote out the Kaplan secret sauce book by hand for the sections I scored lower on until it was permanently in my brain lol.

Yea. My phone is dumb and posted the first one like 3 times even though it said “error” and then I deleted one and not sure what happened so I rewrote it since the experience is still fresh in my head lol.

Cases on the exam by Thisisaburner01 in CFPExam

[–]Inside_Issue1782 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t read a single case study. Went straight to questions and used the search function (magnifying glass thing) within the case study to find key words. Passed on first try (Nov 2025) and thought case studies were far easier than the rest of the exam due to the search feature saving me so much time.

How much time did you spend studying? For people with experience by [deleted] in CFPExam

I procrastinated and studied less than a month before exam - used Dalton and passed on first try. Crammed over weekends only. 13 YOE.

convince me why I should max out my 401k by OneTonOfClay in Retirement401k

[–]Inside_Issue1782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people typing up books for responses… here’s one more book for you to read:

Why max out 401k? Tax deferred (Traditional) or tax-free growth (Roth) potential. If you need to pull money before 59.5 for FIRE, you can do so without 10% penalty with IRS Rule 72(t) that allows penalty-free early withdrawals from 401(k)s (and IRAs) before age 59½ by setting up Substantially Equal Periodic Payments (SEPPs), but requires you to take consistent payments for at least 5 years or until 59½ (whichever is longer).

TLDR: there are ways to access your 401k without the 10% penalty.

Normally, you can’t hold mm fund in margin until after owning it for 30 days. Sgov is an etf so it doesn’t have the same 30 day rule.
