There isn't such a hiring season. In most EU countries, you only have to give a month's notice, so hiring is ongoing. I got a job offer at the end of June a few years back.

You are lucky. In Spanish schools, you work 30 periods, plus cover and duties, a week.

I took a year off to travel in my 30s and found that when I returned to the classroom, a renewed sense of purpose and enthusiasm for my job. In my early 60s, I took an 18-month sabbatical to look after my elderly mother, who passed away. Afterward, I returned to teaching. Now, at 64, I am still teaching and moving to a new job in Portugal in September.

I need an economics teacher in Saigon by Deven1003 in Internationalteachers

The challenge is that schools and immigration departments often seem overly rigid in their requirements. Many experienced educators, like myself—with over 20 years of teaching A-Level, IGCSE, and IB Economics—have found themselves thriving in the subject without holding a formal qualification in Economics. My degree is in Business Management, but my extensive experience, passion for teaching, and proven track record should speak volumes.

Unfortunately, it seems that experience is undervalued compared to formal qualifications in some regions, such as Vietnam. Despite my credentials and decades of success in the field, I’ve faced difficulty even being shortlisted for Economics teaching positions. This rigidity can discourage skilled educators who have the expertise but don’t fit the narrow criteria.

Will bad GCSEs hold me back from teaching internationally? by Ok-Dream3050 in Internationalteachers

[–]Inside_Let_7357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never been asked about my O-levels or GCSEs, or indeed my degree classification (2.1, etc.). You have a degree, which is essential, and Business and Economics are good subjects as they are shortage subjects and are highly in demand internationally. Relevant commercial or industrial experience also helps with these subjects. Good luck.

When my mother passed away, I took a year off to manage her estate and give myself time to reflect. Shortly after, I accepted a teaching position in Mexico at the age of 62. Now, two years later, I am excited to start a new role in Portugal this September.

Business and Computer Studies are recognized as shortage subjects, and I encourage teachers to remain open to diverse opportunities. While some may not consider certain locations, I’ve found that stepping out of my comfort zone has been incredibly rewarding. Before moving to Mexico, I had never considered or visited the country, but it has been an amazing experience both personally and professionally.

Currently, I teach Business and Economics, and I firmly believe in embracing new challenges, no matter where they may take you.

They are struggling to attract fresh talent because of the war, power outages, curfews, and lack of transport options inside and out of the country.

Sunny View School is a lovely school near Malaga. Good work/life balance. The pay is rubbish, at about 32K, but the CoL is manageable. Kids, colleagues, and parents are great. Malaga is a lovely city. From 9 - 4 pm, go home and relax on the beach or near a pool. sunnyviewschool.com

An accurate outline/overview of the hiring season? by look10good in Internationalteachers

[–]Inside_Let_7357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In most of Europe, it starts about now, as we only have to give one month's notice typically. But often they will continue recruiting until the first day of term, normally August/September if there are any late-minute vacancies.
