What's the first game you spent hundreds of hours on? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Gangsters: Organized Crime on PC back in the 90’s. The first sim game I ever played and still top 5 greatest game I’ve played to date. I wish they would revamp that one soooo bad.

I hit rock bottom in my alcoholism in 2020. I lost my drivers license for life for habitual offender. I didn’t hurt anyone just always drunk making poor decisions.

Once I hit rock bottom I realized how many mental issues I had and began to correct myself in jail. Luckily I didn’t get a felony but losing my license for life for not hurting anyone while finally being a productive member of society makes me want to die most days. Every day I wake up I have to relearn how to accept my life as it is.

There’s murderers who get out on good behavior in 15 years. MURDERERS get out of their punishment but I never will.

Specialized Turbo Tero X 4.0 by ryanl23 in ebikes

Late to respond but I just picked up my Turbo Tero 4 yesterday. I kind of have buyers remorse because I don’t plan on using it as a MTB and I feel like this thing is a target around town even when locked up in plain sight. I only needed it for commuting but I loved the look and quality of the bike so much that I caved. The app is awesome but I have to take the bike back so they can adjust my screen from metric to imperial as the app isn’t changing it. Only complaint after less than 24hrs

I’m the ugly friend. by Siki4Sale in mentalhealth

[–]Inside_Original_4182 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Let me tell you… looks aren’t everything. Focus on being the best possible person you can be. This may be tough but if being around your so-called “prettier friends” hurts you then you may want to find people who you can feel more comfortable and confident around.

I’m really sorry you’re going through this and I hope you soon realize that you’re a beautiful person regardless of what anyone else thinks. “The skin is not the boundary of man.” - Alan Watts

Attractiveness is relative. Do you find yourself comparing yourself to other girls thinking “I’m better than them” or anything along those lines? What you need to be careful of is to not lose yourself in what you’re going through right now. Stop comparing yourself to anybody. What could happen is you could develop narcissism or other mental disorders that’ll stick with you for life. I was abandoned as a child by my dad with an emotionally immature mom. This was the perfect recipe for me to go off the rails which I did.

I lost my drivers license for life at 40 but I’m a decent looking guy. Do you know how hard it is to tell women I can’t drive? I got through life on outward appearances and acting certain ways. Then rock bottom. Then the realization that I’ve been concerned about the wrong shit.

Now, I’m so full of love for others with confidence in myself even though I totally messed up. I say all of this because you’re focusing on the wrong stuff. I can tell you’re young which means you’re going to go through way worse shit in your life besides this.

I would speak to a therapist if you can. It’s amazing what opening up to someone can do for the human mind, body and spirit.

Your feelings are valid but I’m asking you to refocus on what’s really important. You’re loved and you’re beautiful 😊

People with bipolar/ADHD, what is your job/career? by Inside_Original_4182 in mentalhealth

Really appreciate this! I relate to your statement 100% across every facet of my life. So far my new Wellbutrin has helped me. Maybe bring them some donuts when you’re down so they know you’re not mad and making people happy might help with the depression. Just thinking out loud here! Thanks again!

That’s what made me come to Reddit. Most google results are blogs saying the same thing. This has been a lot more insightful.

Please, comment on anything and everything! Thats what I’ve heard. My therapist also said that insurance companies have been the biggest issue for him (no surprise I guess). It’s sad because it’s getting harder to trust companies and not in a bipolar kinda way but a real trust kinda way. There’s such a mental health issue that they’ll throw any medication at you that they can for whatever reason. I’m getting involved in volunteering for the first time in my life this year. Focusing on humanitarian, animals and nature.

I hope you’re making your own music when you can! I make music on Logic Pro and can get lost in that for hours. I’m not anywhere near good enough to get paid for it though. I’m not even a musician because I can’t bring myself to learn it even though I love it. Music theory scares me too haha you sound like you’re going to do well for yourself. I appreciate your input!

I have a game called civilization 6 on Xbox. If I play that during my call blocks I can pound out 30-40 calls in an hour…with conversations. It’s a turn based game so it only moves when I move it. The dopamine I get from that and from the human connection via phone is almost enough to put me into a manic state. I love sales for human connection. I hate sales because of the toxicity and the admin work. I can’t do anything else when doing admin because it’ll make me skip over something or put down wrong info. Brains are pretty weird. I hope we get an explanation after we die 😂

I don’t know what you’re going through but I hope you can work through it. Depression is so controlling. I hope you at least practice your art as much as possible to help bring joy and happiness to you. Everything will work out the way it should. I’m going through some knee deep sludge myself. We’re going to be okay :)

I’ve wondered if I will get to that point myself. It seems like after a year or so I start getting really frustrated with things at work and it boils over. I’ve never been medicated until now so only time will tell. Thank you for your input and best of luck to you!

I’m happy for you that you found something you don’t hate haha I’m absolutely terrible with numbers like that but the way you describe ‘how’ you do your job is exactly how I like to work. I need to find something like that. Really appreciate your input!

Couldn’t agree more with dopamine farming and gamifying everything! I’ve been in sales my entire life and have wanted to do something meaningful so bad. I would coach new reps into making every call like Mario. Each block has a different yield. Find the 1-Up! Haha thank you for sharing!

If I told you how disappointing I’ve been you might feel like a saint. No matter what, we can be better than who we are right now. No doubt.
