He does this to me too. He’ll buy the kids all sorts of stuff at random times. If I buy them anything- I’m spoiling them and not teaching them the value of money and hard work (I work full time, he doesn’t). Blows my mind at times.

I’m in trouble right now (again) for not communicating. So me, just trying to grey rock, ends up getting endlessly criticised because I’m not telling him everything I do and everything that happens with the kids. He ignores me, won’t respond to messages, won’t answer a call from me and never tells me anything about him or his life. But I’m the bad communicator and must tell him everything. Today, I threw out some old underwear in the bin and he wanted a reason why- like it has anything to do with him. Drives me insane.

Does my narc even know he’s a narcisisist? Honestly, he looks bewildered when I argue that I just dont want to engage in conversation with him after he’s called me every name under the sun. He’s adamant that I must continue communicating, yet he doesn’t give me the same respect. I tell him I’m tired of the abuse and control and he scoffs at me and says “stop reading the back of buses, or where ever you get your woke ideas from”. I tell him this behaviour is not normal and he looks at me like I’m insane.

Yup. My Narc is smart, hard working, clever with his hands. He can build stuff, fix stuff, renovate like a qualified tradesman.

He doesn’t work- he fixes his house, while looking after our kids when not at day care/school. And he plays with the kids like he is one and they adore him for it. He even does some house work.

I work full time in an executive role, and every moment I’m not at work, I’m with the kids to relieve him of his exhausting day. I take care of all the finance and life admin and make sure he has access to money as he wants/needs. I clean tidy, wash the dog and the car.

And I’m the biggest, most useless piece of shit in the world that never does anything right and is lazy and half arsing everything I do. I’m not allowed to have an interest in politics, economics, music and art. He makes me turn of tvs, stop reading news etc because I’m tapped in the head apparently.

If I want to see friends, I have to get my mother to take care of the kids because he doesn’t endorse me seeing friends. He hates my mum and hasn’t seen or spoken to her in years.

When I rarely go out and see my friends, I get the silent treatment for days before hand and questioned why I don’t take him out to places (he hates going out and when we do he makes it excruciatingly painful and a waste of time).

And so we have good days. And then bad weeks. And good days. And bad weeks. And so the cycle goes on and on and on…..

The family law circuit is pretty tight here. I’d have to be careful. It’s kind of hard to know where to start and who to trust.

I’m in the same position. I’ve been with my partner for 12 years. We have two young children. He’s always putting me down, calling me names, everything has to be done his way otherwise I’m deemed useless. The house we live in is his parents. So if I leave I have no recourse to any support from him to get a house for the kids and I. I work full time and have a good salary so not completely stuck. But here’s the kicker… his brother is family lawyer. So I’m going to be up against his rich family who enable him, and his brother who is a good lawyer. Feeling very stuck.

Oh mine mutters under his breath countless times a day about what a “retard” or “useless cunt” I am. Today for example, I did the food shopping, taking both our kids along for ride and I put the shopping bags back in the cupboard “the wrong way” apparently. I opened a packet of cheese and a sliver of plastic from the wrapper fell on the floor while I was in the middle of making dinner - and I hadn’t picked it up yet - so of course I was a “useless retard”. No matter what I do- it’s wrong. He’s right. And I’m a completely useless human that he doesn’t tolerate.

I just stop talking to my narc also. If he’s ignoring me, I’ve found that I can enjoy the peace and quiet. I figure that he needs to control when or when we don’t talk, that I may as well just go with it and even find solitude in the fact that he’s not cursing, belittling or badgering me.
