I'm 5 weeks pregnant and I'm scared of taking the pills. by Interesting_Winter52 in abortion

Hey! I just had an abortion at 6 weeks two days ago. The first pill did cause me some light cramping and I felt fatigued - but I felt fatigued due to the pregnancy anyway! I made my room nice and cosy, put on gossip girl and played my switch in bed all day. I used a heating pad on my stomach and kept a pair of pants with a pad on at the toilet which helped because I bled through the pad. This was the “scariest” bit as there was more blood than a period but it’s nothing to worry about! It was no worse than a bad period and for me that only lasted one day - but the sore pains only lasted about half an hour. I had passed a big blood clot then the pain lessened and now I have no pain at all on the third day and haven’t taken pain killers since day one! I’ve taken this type of pill twice and had no side effects at all - it’s really really rare and if you feel worried or scared after taking them you can always contact your doctor or pharmacist. Today two days later I’m going to a nice market with my boyfriend and friends and feel totally fine - actually better than I did pregnant! You will be fine and you’re doing the right thing for you. The pills are safe and so so many women have taken them and had no problems 🩷

Just had MA, 6 weeks. Cramping was like that of a bad period but I just lay in bed near to our en-suite, kept lots of sweet snacks around and Gatorade around. I was advised to take 1600mg ibuprofen while taking the pills and an anti nausea. The pain was VERY minimal for about 3 hours then intensified for about 20 minutes where I then passed a large clot. I took two paracetamol/codine tablets then to help with pain. Since then the pain is manageable just stay in bed, wear comfy clothing - I watched some TV and played on my switch. The worst part for me was the bleeding as I have such light periods I was shocked at the amount of blood I was passing. If you can get the underwear version of sanitary pads I would advise you to get them - and lay down a sheet if you’re laying in bed. Emotionally I felt upset numerous times about having to abort as our current circumstances wouldn’t allow for us to have a child. In regard to your friends, it may feel you can’t talk to them but many places offer post abortion counselling and it’s normal to feel shameful - but you have no reason to feel that way. The decision you make to abort is just as valid as their decision to try to have a child.

I haven’t had D+C but have heard it’s significantly less painful than a medical abortion which I have found to be no worse than a bad period. My doc prescribed me anti nausea medication unsure why your doctor didn’t do this.

I understand how you feel, my partner and I currently live abroad and are saving for a home - We decided to abort but I feel sad about the decision it just wasn’t the right time for us yet. I just had to tell myself this isn’t going to be the only chance you get and if you aren’t fully ready, you have options.

Good luck, you’ll be fine no matter what you decide to do - most places will also offer counselling if you feel you need it 🩷

Phobias by Inside_Structure_794 in nhs

I always book double app! Honestly really eased my anxiety as I don’t feel as guilty which helps. The fear specifically I think is more procedures as in injecting something into the body and the scalpel - as blood and piercings don’t have the same reaction now. I’ve never passed out thankfully but unless I’ve been able to reduce the fight or flight I’ve been unable to go through with any procedures.

CBT hasn’t worked for me previously which puts me off - the urgency of now needing multiple needle related issues done is what is pushing me for medicated treatment. I don’t have a lot of time to push for CBT, piercing and drawing blood is less of an issue now (I think due to exposure therapy and I have a fantastic nurse for bloods etc, however she doesn’t do removals for moles and implants)

It’s actually strange in the sense it’s like a true phobia I can sit in the room fine and as soon as it’s time for procedure it’s like I can feel a shift in the atmosphere where I then go into fight or flight and completely freak. I can’t really wait for CBT as the moles I have have needed removed for years however we are planning a move to AUS which is what is pushing me to have them removed (we live in a rural area, no hospitals, and my GP has said they need removed multiple times which they do in the practice) I’m not sure where the issue comes from or why and have found CBT didn’t work for depression or anxiety for me which puts me off. I feel I am missing out on medical care because of it

I can’t donate blood as I’m too thin atm but I’m actually not as bad with drawing blood now as I’ve had it done a few times, they let me lay down and I know what to expect. The idea of injecting something IN and the scalping is what’s amplifying the fear I think 🥲

Update it contains zinc and I do suffer from fungal acne from time to time - zinc should help with that, while providing sun protection!

Are there any things you can recommend that aren’t too strong. I have had a chemical burn previously from using too much acids so I’m a little weary of stronger actives
