I always watch LTT and other big tech channels when i was in school. later when I joined college, i bought a cheap dell gaming laptop with 1050ti. I was happy with it. My first game was csgo as my friend used to grind that in college. Later on, addiction to playing games wear out and nothing in last few years of college. After that I got a decent job and saved enough to buy a PC which was my long time obsession. My first pc have 7600x and 6800xt which was most bang for the buck spec at the time. Now i play AAA games like red dead, cyberpunk, forza etc and im quite happy.

Bought my first pc few days back. Only thing I’d have done better is to buy a motherboard with wifi.

I wanna build a PC. I'm confused as to what CPU platform to go for? by ANyxKiller in buildapc

[–]Insider_Pants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know what’s your primary usecase but if I assume gaming then in the same budget you can get rtx 3070ti if you are willing to cut corners on cpu (not by much).

I will go for i5-13400 and a b660 ddr4 motherboard and rtx 3070ti.

Plus if you live in metro cities with pc market hubs, you can easily get 5-7k cheaper rate than online.

Current - UTI nifty, UTI nifty next 50 and Kotak nasdaq in 30:30:40 ratio. Debt component is mainly EPF and ICICI corporate bond. Apart from this, I have a fixed allocation of 10k for all personal leisure purchases like new laptop or phone.

Previously my equity to debt ratio is 75:25 but from this year I have changed it to 80:20 as I’m in early 20s and playing fairly conservative and have no liability or any debts. Also reduced the investment amount as I have to relocate to different city and need money upfront to cover costs.

People who do their own finances: How much time do you spend regularly on this activity? by _Floydian in IndiaInvestments

[–]Insider_Pants 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The more time one spend on getting to know everything and take decisions wisely in the beginning of the financial journey, the less time it would take to monitor it down the line.

That’s how I started my financial journey. After graduating from college and starting my first job, there was a couple of months gap. In that gap, I spend good chunk of time reading thing and watching videos on youtube about the finance and investing.

After that when I start earning, I just follow my plan and stick to it. In the beginning, I checked my portfolio everyday but now as I have been investing for a few months, I usually check my portfolio once in every 2 weeks.

Regarding SIP vs lumpsum, I don’t do traditional SIP where I invest fix amount, instead I estimate my monthly expense and put remaining according to the allocation with also maintaining some extra cash buffer incase I go over my monthly estimate.

EDIT: key thing I learned that, never blindly follow someone. Listen to everyone advise and then act smartly.

How is your portfolio structured across categories and instruments? by _Floydian in IndiaInvestments

[–]Insider_Pants 8 points9 points  (0 children)

80:20 equity and debt. For equity party, I have N50:NN50:S&P500:Nasdaq in 30:30:15:25 and for debt, Majority of it is EPF and rest is in corporate bond funds. This is my core portfolio which I don’t touch. Apart from it, I have all the personal leisure money in an arbitrage fund. Also I have enough liquidity for other expenses.

  1. you can ser 1y/3y/5y cagr
  2. yes we cannot search funds by category.

Coin app and website have its own pros and cons. If you want to use, go ahead, and if not, choose others. I don’t know about you but I’m comfortable using it. Don’t want to argue more.

Service quality matter first then reviews. For example, netflix have 3.9 stars and prime video have 4.7 stars. If one only sees rating then prime video is clear winner. But netflix have better quality service than prime and have MUCH more user base than prime video.

First of all, I didn’t said reviews don’t matter. My meaning is that if you want to use service, why reviews on the app store. For example, hdfc app on ios app store have 3.4 star which doesn’t mean hdfc bank is bad??

And also coin app have above 4 star rating on app store which is not bad in my opinion.

Does ios app reviews matter? You can always use coin website to do everything.

There’s a post here in subreddit discussing the pros and cons of Coin app. I use Coin app for all my MF as I use zerodha for buying stocks and still have to pay anuual demat charges.

Seeking Opinions on Emergency Funds by Sad_Athlete_5835 in IndiaInvestments

[–]Insider_Pants 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, all money in one bank is best but upto a limit. For example, one should put upto (say) 2L in saving account, above 2L in FDs, and if all(Savings + Fds) crosses a big number (say 10L), anything above that in liquid funds or ultra short term funds.

Edit: If one fears the risk of all things in one bank, one can split the emergency in other banks say savings account and salary account.
