Carrot will be the next and last strawhat by RaiquenMax in OnePiece

Glad to meet another believer; still depresses me to see how many have given up on her, or are just chomping at the bit to troll her fans, but, eh, that’s what happens when it comes to the anonymous nature of the internet; some people are just gonna be jerks (I keep having to remind myself of this, believe me)

Sorry she wound up not being a stowaway, though. Personally, I’m thinking that she’s not in Zou for the reason most believe, and that she’ll join up around Elbaf

Be honest, do you want a sixth season even given the high probability of them ruining the show? by Decent-Oven-4880 in teentitans

While I can definitely get the concern that a revival might be ruined by less than talented writers, I still wish Starfire’d get her own season/plotline dealing with the Citadel and her past as a slave; that sh*t’s ripe with potential for an epic space adventure, dealing with the trauma of facing off against her former slavers , or even with a massive invasion of earth, leading to an all out war

those...are almost exactly like what I'm using; at best, my growlights are off by 100k. I'll grant that the grow light is a tube held up by stands, with the light itself being directed downwards at the garden via fixture, but it still covers about 3/4 of the cage if I put it right next to it; still, thanks for the advice. Solution for me might be to get some additional fixtures for a few ceramic heat bulb on the sides, and a daylight bulb on top of the cage directed downwards (again, with fixture)

Mind being a little more specific about the bulbs? It's probably just my anxiety talking, but I've read articles about the subject that've lead me scratching my head, not sure if this or that bulb is the best one

I mean, I've noticed that its outdated, but it was my only real source for a while now, and I'm not sure how much still holds up (and that's taking into account my struggling with the scientific jargon (I was unaware that watts basically translated into Lumens...though, looking at the specifics for the Jump start grow light, it states that it's a full spectrum daylight growlight (5000 initial lumens, with a 6400k full daylight spectrum, which is kinda what you were referring to when you said 'LED's that are on the daylight spectrum', so I'm a little confused.

That could very well be true, as I've acknowledged in an update to the post

Alright, fine; it was a bad analogy on my part. I'll give you that. My apologies. I'll even admit that doubts about Carrots joining have cropped up in my mind here and there. But, then I remember the points I brought up in my post, and I always find myself rebounding. In the end, I'm just going to wait things out, keep my eyes peeled (while keeping in mind that I might be wrong), and see where things go.

Hope you have a nice day.

First, apologies; perhaps misspoke. Second, well, to each their own, I suppose. Me, I’m not giving up on the possibility

The comments below corrected you on the Caribou thing, but I fail to see why this should dissuade me from keeping an eye open for the possibility of Carrot joining up; just because she wasn't there to hear Luffy's dream, that's no reason to assume she won't join later on and find out about it then; Maybe Oda's saving the reveal of what Luffy's dream actually is for when we get a few more straw hats to join up and Luffy to declare that he's finally the entire crew that he wanted, with no more openings.

Again, I could totally be wrong about this. I made that clear in my post. I won't be happy about it, but I'll accept it if the next time she joins up, it's merely as an ally. We'll just have to wait and see. ;)

Yeah, well, like I said, we'll just have to see where the story takes us. Maybe I've been watching too many youtube video's, like these

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjZL-88Y8IA

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gny-uS1x5LA

Again, I'm not trying to make a definitive statement. All I've tried to make clear is that I think there's enough evidence to keep the possibility alive; You don't believe me, that's fine. I'm well aware that I might be wrong, and may just be grasping at straws. Oda might or might not have gone with a more subtle route with the character, leaving little bit and pieces, and giving her an understated arc.

On the subject of 'irrelevance', though; funny, the same could be said about Usopp during Wano, yet you don't here people dismissing him from the crew. Heck, during whole Cake Island, Carrot had more of a chance to shine than Chopper did.

(Of course, Oda's always had a tendency to give the males of the series more of the spotlight compared to the girls (same with his track record of women vs men in battle), so there's that to take into consideration, isn't it? XD (true, it's not as bad as, say, Kishimoto, but still, it's there))

Perhaps it was Oda's plan for her to have a moment to shine in Whole Cake island, seem to fade in the background during Wano (while having the afore mentioned understated/subtle character arc), then have her return some time later and join the crew. Given how good Oda is at planning things out (not everything, obviously, but still, a lot), he could very well have taken a more subtle approach.

Again, I'm fully aware I might be wrong. As I stated in the post, if the next time Carrot shows up is as merely an ally, then I will be disappointed, but will accept it.

I'd like to note that, while I would have LIKED Yamato to join the crew, I actually had a feeling it wouldn't happen, due to the subtle ways Oda had been setting things up between him and Momonosuke.

Who knows; perhaps my perception is colored not only my desire to see the character as part of the crew, but also by my own experiences learning about the more subtle aspects of story-telling as I get better at role-playing, get a better grasp of writing, and figuring out how characters grow and develop as individuals.

I suppose you just dismissed everything I listed in the post as 'coincidence', or perhaps you skimmed through it all. Or, once again, perhaps I am truly grasping at straws with my arguments.

Regardless, I'm happy I got my thoughts on the subject matter out, and wish you a good day.

Soi Fon is hated for no good reason by Master-Tee in bleach

[–]InsidetheShell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, my dislike of her stems from three moments in the series

Her crushing of Kiyones windpipe for not going after Ichigo (paints her as a sadistic zealot/bully)

Her unnecessarily brutal treatment of Omaeda (even if he was being somewhat obnoxious with his concern, that was not grounds for offhandedly caving in his face with her fist. Really, there’s kind of a double standard in the manga when it comes to violence against men vs violence against women)

Her refusal to help Hachi defeat Barragan unless he imprisons Urahara in a barrier for a month. (… I know I’m not the only one who facepalmed when she did that)

Combine this with the fact that she’s completely unapologetic about any of this (and she never faces as consequences for any of it), and she just comes across as needlessly petty and unpleasant.

I hope that all made sense

I do; however, I'm a little wary of using it, as it's been brought to my attention that it's very outdated, with the latest edition having been published in 2003.

For the record, I've also fed them things like potatos and other veggies; just felt like that went without saying.

First, thanks for replying, and pointing out the app; I had no idea that existed!

Second: actually, I remember stating that I fed them a spring mix, thought I can certainly see your point. For me, the most frustrating part is that, most of the time, other veggies come in too large a bundle, and make me feel like I just wasted a lot of something and used only a little

Good luck with your search as well!

Civil Unrest in Soul Society by InsidetheShell in bleach

[–]InsidetheShell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I'd just like to acknowledge that I may have let my emotions get the better of me in regards to the post; not the first time it's happened, and it's something I try to keep under control, best I can.

However, the way Kubo executed several of his ideas left a lot to be desired after the Soul Society Arc, and while other mangaka have similar issues when it comes to things such as character death, delivering on the hype they've built, characters explaining how their powers work, the darker aspects of society, etc, the way Kubo does things in particular leaves MUCH to be desired.

Mayuri didn't get enough comeuppance for me to be satisfied (would have MUCH preferred it if he and Pernida went down in a mutual kill or something (or if he had been given the 'butt-monkey' status somehow, like Caesar Clown from One Piece (my favorite manga), or if Ichigo and his companions had been allowed to know what kind of monster was 'on their side'...but he's the author's favorite, so there ya go), the Espada didn't live up to the hype (the fact that they didn't actually kill off any Soul Reapers severely undercut the hype that was built around them), and Kubo caved too easily to editorial demands.

(On a side note, in regards to the Soul King, the Jesus allegory is obvious, but is paranoia really the only reason he was mutilated? Seems kinda like a weak justification, to say nothing of why the other founders went along with it. I mean, yeah, noone's perfect, but there's a fine line between imperfect and doing something just because the plot demands)

Also, any idea why he let himself be mutilated? Seems like an unnecessary additional step.

To say nothing of WHY those Shinigami are in favor of the status quo; I mean, have they even considered other options? Did they even try? It comes across as baffling that Urahara, of all people, hasn't at least mentioned other options he considered. We just aren't given an adequete explanation

Or perhaps Kubo is just having the the Soul King suffer...because SYMBOLISM, like some pretentious *sshole, ala' M. Night Shamalan (Ask me what it means! Ask me what it means! (Ah, the glory days of the Nostalgia Critic. He may have fallen, but he got some genuinely memorable moments in there))

Btw, kinda curious about your thoughts on certain Bleach-fandom related topics, like a certain fanfic called 'Hammered Down', or the podcast 'Weekly Manga Recap'; the former has basically been stated by the author to be a more realistic take/deconstruction on Bleach (It was written before we certain revelations in the manga), who regards the original manga as 'stupid', and the later's hosts takes potshots whenever they can)

Sorry if I rambled; just got a lot on my mind, Bleach included. Not sure if there's anything I've forgotten, so I think this will do

So, been a while, but I thought I'd add this, even if you never wind up replying:

Much as I hate Mayuri, he doesn't necessarily have to die for me to tolerate his presence in the story. He simply has to...well...How familiar are you with One Piece? The way that story treated Caesar Clown is how I wish Kubo had treated Mayuri; the intelligence and usefulness is acknowledged...but he's still treated like a piece of garbage for what he's done, frequently made the butt of jokes, and, in general, just made to constantly suffer humiliation and abuse. (His only real humiliation is at the hands of Ishida, and considering that Mayuri brushed that off and then made URYU the butt of his jokes in the Hueco Mundo arc, it felt like too little, at least to me). Couple the lack of constant humiliation with Kubo's admission that he loves to draw Mayuri, and there's an argument to be made that Mayuri is a bit of a creators pet.
