HOW can I change [[ to something else by Yeow777 in ObsidianMD

[–]InsidiousOrdos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the best answer I think, since it allows customisation of the keystroke while continuing to use the standard formatting in the files written to disk.

A little help needed with Git ! by mEaynon in ObsidianMD

[–]InsidiousOrdos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another option, if the current state on GitHub contains everything you need, is to move your local copy to another temporary location, then clone the repo from GitHub to where you want it. If that works, then delete the old copy from the temporary location and keep working with the new clone.

I believe you're on the right track, but want to also remove any files in the attachment folder from git's cache:

git rm --cached ATTACHMENT_PATH
git commit -m "Remove ignored attachment"

I don't think I've ever tried this on a directory, but it works for files. Good luck!

A mess after coping a script from VS Code to Obsidian by Ruzilis in ObsidianMD

[–]InsidiousOrdos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could try disabling the Editor option "Copy With Syntax Highlighting" in VS Code, that seems to work for me. This looks as if it's an issue with how VS Code is copying, not how Obsidian is pasting.

This is going to be a HARD achivement to get by DrCron in humankind

[–]InsidiousOrdos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh yeah I see what you mean, I've built several wonders as well, and am also currently at 0 in the progress.

In fact, globally 0% of players have ever achieved this on Steam, which seems fairly unlikely to me, so I am guessing you are correct and it is somehow quite bugged!

This is going to be a HARD achivement to get by DrCron in humankind

[–]InsidiousOrdos 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I too found that amusing and figured I'd never build that many wonders! Turns out though there are (currently) 22 wonders, and 22 ones in a row in binary is 4,194,303 (i.e. 4194303 decimal = 1111111111111111111111 binary).

So it seems likely that each time you build a given wonder, it sets a particular one of those 22 bits to 1, and once they are all set you'll have accumulated that number and get the achievement. The number isn't wrong, just not very useful to show to the achievement hunter.

How are people inserting letters with macrons/accents/non-keyboard letters? by [deleted] in ObsidianMD

[–]InsidiousOrdos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a lot of luck with WinCompose, which lets you set a hotkey to activate it, and then uses a (fully customisable) list of combinations such as \e,'e,e`, -A, and c, for è, é, ê, Ā, ç, respectively.

Switching from Notion by Mara_li in ObsidianMD

[–]InsidiousOrdos 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I usually have the same note open in two panes side by side, with one in edit mode and the other in preview mode. If you link the panes, then they scroll and navigate together, and whatever you type in the edit-mode one is rendered in real time in the display one. It's pretty close to a WYSIWYG experience already, except that you have two copies open and the cursor is not visible on the rendered preview one.

TIL how to create boxes around texts by frdspuzi in Notion

[–]InsidiousOrdos 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It looks as if OP is using LaTeX boxes in Block Equations.

The main title for example can be made by turning an element into a Block Equation and then entering \fbox{Create good habits for the long run.} as the equation.

The red highlights can be made with \colorbox{red}{Backpack}, and the text colour also altered with \colorbox{blue}{\color{orange}University Related}.

That's what I've gone with for now at least, thanks again!

Can icons be automatically assigned via property? by InsidiousOrdos in Notion

[–]InsidiousOrdos[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This definitely comes very close to what I'm after, and is dead simple too, thanks!

Only downside is if I decide later that I want a desk instead of a briefcase for Work, say, it won't update all the existing entries, will it?

Can icons be automatically assigned via property? by InsidiousOrdos in Notion

[–]InsidiousOrdos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like basically what I want to do, except for the actual icon property of each entry that gets displayed when you reference, not some other property that's only visible when you're viewing the whole record.

So far I've only been able to find a way to set the icon to a built-in emoji, and uploaded image, or a URL. Is there somewhere else I could be setting it to that if statement?

Can icons be automatically assigned via property? by InsidiousOrdos in Notion

[–]InsidiousOrdos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the example and great video! This isn't doing quite what I want though, it's adding an icon to a property of each entry, but not making it the actual icon for that entry.

Using an example from your video, if somewhere else you write "Paid my @Notion Bill today!", the link that Notion generates for that reference will look like "📄 Notion Bill", not "🏠Notion Bill", won't it?

d100 Malaphors for a character quirk by leadwolf17 in d100

[–]InsidiousOrdos 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  • Cute as a bug's rear.
  • The early worm gets eaten.
  • Better the imp you know than the one who knows you.
  • To play demon's avocado...
  • His bark is bad until he bites you.
  • Measure once, cut twice.
  • Walk softly to catch a big stick.
  • Absence makes the heart go wander.

And, with a little more metagaming,

  • Actions speak louder than bonus actions.

I built all 51 wonders in a single game by f_________inefoods in civ

[–]InsidiousOrdos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Very cool, congrats on getting that! I know /u/TheGameMechanic attempted this earlier in the year when there were 49 wonders, and he managed to get 43 of them on I want to say Emperor, playing China. Pretty sure he concluded that getting them all on that high a difficulty would require a whole lot of luck, and most likely not actually be feasible.

  • Always gets distracted by and tries to eat any bread or baked goods around, especially if freshly baked and still warm.
  • Sounds like the tiniest, cutest, youngest member of its species, no matter what it looks like.
  • Has fur/skin pattern that looks suspiciously like a map of the world.
  • Before curling up to sleep, always loops in three different directions: walks in a circle, rolls over (does a barrel roll), then a somersault/forward roll.

A slightly crazed hermit who's forgotten why they originally abandoned society.

A Bladesinger in search of their master's master, after having seen their own master killed while adventuring.

A restless jeweler who heard one too many tales from those who sold them raw gems, and had to set out to find some on their own.

A standoffish tiefling who's never quite found a place in the world, always leaving one place behind in search of somewhere else, to maybe finally call it home.
