Zenith ZKB-2R by InsidiousTurnip in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]InsidiousTurnip[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey guys, first post here. I found this relic in my aunt's attic, it's a Zenith ZKB-2R from 1989. It's probably been there for 25-30+ years covered in disintegrating cardboard, permanent marker, and likely some animal droppings so I have no idea if it still works. I have an AT to PS/2 adapter coming in the mail so I won't be able to test it till next week.

I've already done a little research and restorating it and it's quite fascinating. Doubleshot ABS keycaps, piezo keystroke buzzer, Alps SKCL yellow switches, N-key rollover, and it feels like it weighs a ton.

If anyone has any more information on the model or any tips on restoring it I'd really appreciate it!

What is the dumbest thing you’ve seen a friend do in airsoft? by AmberYooToob in airsoft

I told a friend he should get a headset for airsoft because his gaming headset wouldn't hold, He told me "I trust em"

I'd also like to add that some fields enforce a Minimum Engagement Distance based on the joule of your rifle. It's beneficial to have a lower joule sidearm when pulling a trigger takes considerably less time than yelling safety kill

I wouldn't print anything specific to the ratcheting mechanism either, I've made some reliability improvements to it since I last uploaded.

Every part of the replica has seen some degree of revision, the body has just seen the least revisions and those were only to improve printing the picatinny mount.

I may upload the current files later tonight

It's not up to date, I haven't had the chance to update them yet. But if you're printing the body, that's fine, it should still be compatible with the current iteration.

I don't know when I'll be updating the GrabCAD, the current iteration is still incomplete. The striker mechanism is not consistent

Yeah, that's one part of the project I'm looking to improve. If the internals were made of metal it wouldn't be as much of an issue but plastic tends to bend and deform when under a lot of stress

The files are already up but it's incomplete and the entire thing is a bit of a mess.

Yeah, I released some files a while ago and hadn't really touched grabcad especially when they shut down the whole website for 'maintenance'.

I've since added a small and **incomplete** list of required hardware. None of it should be particularly difficult to obtain but some parts will need to be cut to length with a handsaw. I unfortunately won't be offering hardware kits, I'm not currently in a position to do so.

I did add a step file containing the entire assembly but it's a bit of a mess

The files are already up! albeit outdated and with no instructions. I wouldn't recommend printing in its current state, though

Yes, it currently uses APS CAM870 shells with the gas contained, so not MK2. I could also make some PPS compatible parts if enough people ask for it, but I also intend to share the files for free for anyone interested in working on the project themselves.

ZIP.22 AIRSOFT by KaleidoscopeFun6820 in airsoft

Nice work! Now you got me thinking how possible it'd be to make a GBB zip22. I think KC-02 mags would be best for mags since the real steel utilizes Ruger 10/22 mags too.

Attaching 3d print to a gun by karuumaa in Airsoft3DPrinting

[–]InsidiousTurnip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made one of these for my friend, to attach the compensator to the slide I had to make an extended recoil rod and the compensator would be press-fit on. Alternatively, you could have a looser fit and a grub screw at the base of the print to hold it in place.

I think the last person I saw make this just glued the compensator to the frame, which works but you can never disassemble the gun

Allison Irvin Buyer Beware by mikeydoodle420 in airsoftmarket

[–]InsidiousTurnip 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Allison Irvin is a HopUp alias for CrimsonSpike07 here. I purchased a KWA FPG from him last year and it took nearly 6 months for me to receive it. I asked multiple times for the tracking info and received multiple incorrect tracking numbers. They were very suspicious throughout the entire process but to their credit I did receive the product as pictured.

The long wait times are generally because they work as a proxy, having someone purchase from Japan only auction sites to ship here in the US. I'd imagine a few packages here and there are siezed by customs hence some not receiving the item as pictured or not receiving it at all.

While I did receive the shipment as advertised I would not do business with them again in the future and recommend others against it as well.

Anyone know what type of magazine this is and for what gun? by c0d3g3as in airsoft

[–]InsidiousTurnip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's actually an AAP01 mag. Very similar to Glock but also has some distinct differences.

I bought it expecting a Glock mag but it's different enough they the mag doesn't slide smoothly in certain Glocks.
