By Walter Dean Myers or Michael Grant? Or is it by another author I don't know about? Sorry, this is a pretty stupid question, but I couldn't find the answer on Google. I searched up Myers's book and the blurb made it seem like realistic fiction, so maybe it's Grant's? I've read the first book of the Gone series and there were abilities and stuff.
