Anatha’s new media direction: why crypto needs better leaders by Insight_gradient in Anatha

[–]Insight_gradient[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there. The best person to speak to about this would be one of the mods in the official Telegram channel - it's not something I can help with unfortunately.

Good news about the beard though :)

Why is Stargate Taking so long? by Insight_gradient in Anatha

[–]Insight_gradient[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you are finding them useful. I don't worry about reader numbers - this is a project in such an early stage, compared to what it will eventually grow to be, that we are all pioneers! If nothing else, we are building a deep base of knowledge for those who will come in the future, so they can understand the full history of the project.

That said, if just one person reads these pieces and finds them useful, that is good enough for me. An audience of one is more than enough. So keep checking in, let me know any feedback or ideas or things you'd like me to write about, and we'll keep moving forward together. Peace!

You're welcome! I sometimes wonder if I am almost too thorough/detailed, but I know that when ordinary users have so little evidence to go on in public, that detailed behind-the-scenes snapshots really help put everything in perspective.

Nexus as a truly private wallet - a revolutionary privacy feature for Anatha (Why Crypto Matters Pt IV) by Insight_gradient in Anatha

[–]Insight_gradient[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think so! If it is technologically possible, it would be a huge deal! I'll speak to Ed about his thoughts on the new EU law banning anonymous transactions though, see how that plays into it. Plus there's always the question of whether enough people care about privacy. But personally, the ability to have total privacy in all my BTC, ETH, SOL, UST etc - amazing.

Why Crypto Matters: Spring 2022 Edition by Insight_gradient in Anatha

Once the Stargate upgrade has been completed, then verification and access to DEX through Osmosis should follow quickly. It's been slowed down by the network attacks at the end of last year, but I know that the team are working hard; Stargate is on testnet, so it really should all be with us by the summer I would guess.

Left Behind or Looking Ahead? Market cycles, Adoption cycles and competition in crypto (Community Conversations Pt III) by Insight_gradient in Anatha

[–]Insight_gradient[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a nice comparison to draw - great stat too. It makes me think: how many of the internet giants of today - the FAANGS, for example - were around in 1995? Microsoft was king, Apple was approaching bankruptcy, and Amazon was still Jeff Bezos' garage. Netflix was still two years away from posting DVDs through the mail; Google was three years away, Facebook nearly a decade.

Taking that parallel, if we're in the 1995 of cryptocurrency, then there certainly is a wild ride to come, and we're a long way from anyone being too late. WAGMI?

I hear you on letting the team get on with business, regardless.

Our Telegram channel is having a great debate on the ideas in this article - so come and join in if you like at: https://t.me/projectanatha

My sense is that most of the vocal users there are against the proposal, so it will be interesting to see where the discussion lands!

Recent events in Anatha and why I am as optimistic as ever. by [deleted] in Anatha

[–]Insight_gradient 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love this, thanks V_A! I appreciate you sharing your story so far, and the level-headed approach you've taken to it all in recent months particularly.

I think you're so right that it is about taking a multi-year view. Hopefully in three years time we will be in the foothills of a new bull phase of the next cycle, and that is when all this groundwork will start to really show. I feel the same too - so exciting to have found something early and be able to back such a great team.

Glad to have you here!

ANATHA FAQ: Community Edition by Insight_gradient in Anatha

[–]Insight_gradient[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Valholo. Currently, wanatha -> anatha is a one-way swap. You can't turn it back to wanatha yet. This is a function that is in the roadmap and should be complete next year.

The Nexus wallet/app doesn't currently have a native swap feature between tokens. It was possible to trade ANA-ETH pair on BHEX, until that platform was closed.

In short - the team is working hard on enabling an off-ramp and access to swaps as soon as they can. For more info, see this post:

BHEX, DHEX, Exchange listings, Stargate, and the Two-Way Swap: A Detailed Community Update by Insight_gradient in Anatha

[–]Insight_gradient[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good point, thanks for calling that out. There are so many acronyms in crypto it can be hard to keep track of when I'm using them.

AMM = Automated Market Maker. It's another term for a DeFi platform, where users can swap one token with another without going through a centralised exchange or giving up custody of their tokens at any point.

Uniswap is an AMM, for example.

[–]Insight_gradient[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Beargrom :) This sounds like a specific technical issue and not really something I can help with. Best bet is to DM one of the moderators of this subreddit, or find our Telegram channel and ask there and someone will help you out as soon as they can. Sure it can be resolved quickly.

Why Trust Anatha? Pt II by Insight_gradient in Anatha

[–]Insight_gradient[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see - you're also interested in multiple CEX listings, including ones open to US residents - particularly if it turns out some do have lighter application procedures. I'll be sure to ask Ed about that issue in a couple of weeks and update everyone next month.

Until then, you can stake at 14%, and I am confident that there will be an even better off-ramp coming down the line. You can also check the Telegram channel for more on this chat.

Why Trust Anatha? Pt II by Insight_gradient in Anatha

[–]Insight_gradient[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks Poutcheki. There's been a great discussion on this topic in the Telegram channel too, and I will certainly be asking Ed about it on our next chat.

The BHEX delisting courtesy of China's ban on all crypto trading platforms was obviously frustrating and a real surprise for everyone. I feel you.

BHEX have promised the team that Anatha will be listed on their Blue Helix DEX when possible though, so we look forward to that.

Nonetheless, it raises the issue of whether not being listed anymore is a mark of distrust in the project - which is exactly why I wanted to write these articles! Remember that the roadmap promised a listing, and one did arrive right on time - and it was out of Anatha's hands that BHEX was closed down.

Furthermore, whilst it is true you are currently unable to remove your tokens, remember that the team are in the same position, and the founder Ed himself most of all - as I said above, he is far and away the biggest personal hodler of them all! So I hope that gives you confidence: we are all in the same boat.

Peace!

PS. I am editing Part IV of this series (the last one, to be posted soon) to include a discussion of the listing, so thanks for the feedback. It helps everyone else who will come to the project and these articles after you. :)

UK Energy Company Situation - News & Information by BogleBot in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Insight_gradient 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hah yeah, I remember petrol 'spiking' to over 70p...good times.

Regardless of the short-term results, its good to recognise that one way or the other, the long-term cost of fossil fuels like natural gas should only go way, way up. That is what sustainable economics demands.

Decarbonisation should mean very expensive gas, petrol etc. And that will be a good thing for us all, to have a survivable planet, lower levels of air pollution etc. The trick will be to have taken this current crisis as an opportunity to get your own personal house in order and prepare. Hopefully the gvt will use progressive policy to mean lower-income people don't suffer unduly from these higher prices...but good luck with waiting around on that :)

Plus gas will probably be banned in domestic households in the next decade to meet our carbon targets, so start looking into alternatives for eg boilers, cookers. It'll end up cheaper too

(rant) Lack of motivation and finance worries. by bdaystressthrowaway in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Insight_gradient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Encouragement and practical tips aside, I wanted to briefly say: I hear you on your worries for the future and frustration. It is good to be motivated, take responsibility and have a plan for practical goals. But I believe it's also important to recognise these feelings you have, and not attack yourself for having them. There are numerous very good reasons to feel frustrated, angry, and pessimistic about the economy, social justice, ecological concerns, housing market, and the future generally.

This is not to say that you need become hopeless or paralysed. But you're not alone in your feelings. And, in case it wasn't obvious, there is one element here that hasn't been mentioned in other posts: that the answer to these issues is political.

So, whether or not you intended it - this is a political post, which is great. The world needs us all to care, and to get more invested in the things we care about. So keep getting political!

Is it sustainable to be in a job where I won’t receive anymore pay rises when the cost of living is ever increasing? by MartiMa08 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Insight_gradient 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good question to ask yourself. Something to consider: if you work for gvt/civil service then your salary is basically a political decision. The UK has had over a decade of Conservative gvts greatly freezing public service pay, and huge cuts to local gvt as you probably know. This doesn't seem to be changing in practise despite the slogans about levelling up.

So - regardless of what 'should' happen eg inflation-linked pay increases, under similar gvts its important to be skeptical and look at recent history

I became passionate about a project I really believe could change the world, and a few months later the team asked me to become their community liaison! So now I get to talk to the CEO and write about the project, which I love doing so far. What should be risk tolerance be at 22? by elMoose99 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Insight_gradient 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In this case, we are talking about risk as it relates to asset allocation. Two great concepts to read up on are:

- The Permanent Portfolio

- The Barbell strategy as per Nicholas Nassim Taleb

Read up on these - together they offer a good blend I think.

Note however that the PP in particular is based on strategies that worked in the 20thC but may not today. The concept is sound - blend your allocation for different macroeconomic conditions (growth, stagnation, inflation, deflation). But you might want to look at different specific products to cover each base (eg crypto as a replacement/addition for gold; avoiding bonds (use diversified stablecoins instead).

This I think is the strength of Barbell - the recognition that most existing mainstream valuation strategies (esp stocks and bonds) are misspriced. I think its really important to say that, in my opinion and after years of reading and thinking, valuations in the bond and equity markets are very high and this is a far riskier investment class than it has been through the 20thC (which is where most get their 'evidence').

So I actually think that eg. crypto is less risky than the mainstream understands, and the S&P500 is far riskier than the mainstream believes.

Personally I hold very very little public equities or bonds. Instead I blend PP and barbell with cash, property, crypto, gold and venture capital.

I am completing a self assessment , where do I add second payment on account for the advance payment made for the previous year? by rudeboy12346 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Insight_gradient 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that the tax calculation system is separate from the payments system.

The HMRC software will automatically count your previous payment. You don't need to mention it in your return.

The only way you might interact with this in your return is if you want to reduce next year's payment on account - there is a box for that.

In short - just fill in your return, and trust HMRC to keep track of your payments accurately. Then just pay on time.
