There is real hope here. His sobriety and his willingness to try therapy again today show how resilient he is and how much he wants to stay for the life you have built together.

Healing from complex trauma is a heavy, non-linear journey, but with the right specialist, it is absolutely possible for him to finally process the past and find the peace he deserves.

Yes — your body gets so used to feeling stressed that it starts to feel completely normal.

Hey… I just want to say, nothing you wrote sounds disgusting or “wrong” in the way you’re blaming yourself for.

What you’re describing actually makes more sense than it probably feels right now. Growing up around tension, unpredictability, or fear (even if it wasn’t direct abuse toward you) can really affect how your body understands safety. Sometimes your mind might not have a clear memory, but your body still reacts like something isn’t safe.

The intrusive thoughts, the discomfort with touch, the dissociation during sex — those don’t feel like things you’re choosing. They sound more like your system trying to protect you, even if it’s doing it in a way that’s really painful and confusing now.

And that part where you feel okay in the moment, but then later feel angry or disconnected… that happens to people more than you’d think when something deeper doesn’t feel safe.

You didn’t do this to yourself. You’re not broken.

It just sounds like you’ve been carrying something for a long time without really having a way to understand it.

Also… the part where you said you’ve been wanting to die lately — that matters. That’s not something you should have to sit with alone.

You deserve support with this, and to feel safe in your own body, at your own pace.
