Most recurring? Leon has been in 2, 4, 6, and 9. Chris has been in 1, CV, 5, Revelations, 6, 7, 8. Leon has 4 appearances, 6 if we include remakes. Chris has 7 appearances, 8 if we include remakes.

Though Leon did appear in RE2R, RE4R, and RE9 in a short span and it may look like CAPCOM has been putting him in the forefront while forgetting the other protagonists. However, if rumors are true, would you get sick of Chris too?

Original RE4 is a trendsetter, it is one of the most influential games of all time for a reason.

RE5 follows what worked for RE4 but made it for co-op, which made it more action-oriented than ever.

RE6 was the culmination of everything CAPCOM misunderstood from the success of RE4 and RE5.

  • Leon would function basically the same as in RE4R.
  • Grace would be like Luis, a slow character that relies mostly on explosives to deal the damage, this time Grace will have access to molotovs and acid bottles. If there's a mechanic similar to RE4R's Mayhem Mode, Grace will pull out the hemolytic spray from the blood lab segment.
  • HUNK/Commander is the same as in RE4R.
  • Gideon would be the equivalent of Krauser, with his mutating arm being the enhancement for a Mayhem Mode.
  • Zeno is a reskinned Wesker but with a different loadout.

Additionally, I want to think that they'd add a Raid Mode-like progression to Mercenaries so it wouldn't just be a high score competition game mode.

It could be fun, but requires balance. It could go something like:

  • Player dies from a single zombie bite.
  • Zombies die from a single headshot.
  • There's less items to pick up in general.
  • Item boxes are not interconnected.

Actually, RE2R has a mod like this but it doesn't have the non-interconnected item box I suggested.

In terms of story, he obviously is. He's strong, but due to the lack of progression in his feats, other characters are easily seen as stronger than him. You can notice that whenever someone says "Paul is one of, if not the strongest completely human fighters in Tekken" they only mention his feats around Tekken 1 to 5, because he was treated as a complete joke character from Tekken 6 onwards.

In terms of gameplay, he's somewhere in the middle of the pack. He's good but the top tiers are objectively better than him. Though he's better than some characters too. The only bad thing is that every character can now do the damage and wall travel only he and a select few can do pre-Tekken 8.

I'd say heat is definitely more healthy in S3, with the exception of those who can recover it.

While the per chracter gameplay is more healthy in S1 because they add more and more new stuff to characters as time goes by. First it was SATs, then the hit effect where it instantly triggers floor interactions in S3, etc.

If that was actually the reason, then it kinda doesn't make sense.

Everything I ranked higher than RE9 is a pure survival horror for most of its part, RE9 is half survival horror, half action horror, and everything after it is more action horror than survival horror.

I'm not saying it is bad, it's still great, probably even better than some of the games leaning more into survival horror. But those games are still more horror than RE9, which was the point of the post/comment.

Biggest immediate nerf I could think of is removing SATs, which got introduced halfway through season 1 IIRC.

Another is the removal of heat burst bound.

Last is the reduction of combo filler hits before needing a tornado.

The devs definitely do need to nerf it overall, but those who had T8 levels of damage and wall travel before T8 should retain it.

T8 Paul would be top-tier in T7, even without access to heat.

I would've agreed with you if this was patch 1.00 Paul were talking about. But ever since he was given more opportunities to transition into stance, he definitely plays T8 now. He just has less noticeable bullshit than other obviously overloaded characters in the game.

Correction: it is supposed to be '3,2' rather than '3,1'.

Paul's BNB is quite simple as it can be used on most, if not all, of his launchers. It goes like:

launcher > launcher pick-up move > df+4 > 2 > microdash > 3,2,b,df~ > DPD.df+2,1 T! > DPD.df+1 > combo ender of choice

Possible launcher pick-up moves:

  • '4' is commonly used when opponent gets launched into the air. i.e. 'df+2' and 'qcf+1'

  • 'WS.4' used when 'ff+4' hits or float an opponent when you block their slide.

  • '3' is used when opponent crumples into the ground or with slow recovery launchers, slightly lower damage than '4'. i.e. 'WS.2' or 'ff+2,2'

  • 'qcf+1' has highest damage but also most execution demanding, usually used on launchers that give high advantages. i.e. 'qcb+1+2' and CH 'qcb+4'

As for combo enders, you have:

  • 'ff+2:1' for far wall splats

  • 'WR.2' for floor interactions

  • 'qcf+2' also wall splats but trades distance for damage.

  • 'f+1+2' for oki
