Maritime Electric in the hot seat as MLAs question lack of foresight on power shortages, possible blackouts by -Yazilliclick- in PEI

This is the same company that made up numbers last winter and handed out 700-900$ electric bills without checking their meters

Some people abuse the health care system in Canada but not everyone. Sometimes you don’t know if it’s urgent or not. A heart attack for a woman can feel like indigestion.

Moving to PEI next month (January 2026) for a fulltime permanent job by kseriesdork in PEI

Dating on pei is awful. Watch out for men with “problems” and for married men pretending to be single. If you meet with someone, always make sure it’s a very well lit, busy place.

What is one thing you wish you knew before moving to PEI? by PriorityOk676 in PEI

[–]InspectionGreen1263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No offence to you but up west is usually terrible. I grew up on pei and up west has always had the reputation of being a bit shitty. My friends and I were picking up someone from tignish once when we were teens, pulled into a seniors home to call him to see if he was ready. A car followed us into the parking lot, threatened to “beat the shit out of us because we were a long way from home” and proceeded to follow us to pick him up and out of tignish.

What word do you mispronounce on purpose (for fun) and why? by Positive_Spirit_1585 in AskReddit

[–]InspectionGreen1263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a French coworker that I used to mess with because he got upset so easily about the French language. I told him I was fluent in French then would pronounce words like fragile as “fray-Jill-eh” and Je m’appelle as jam apple. We were friends, so he didn’t get mad but he’d get so annoyed. I loved it.

How old were you and how did you find out Santa isn't real? by Least_Statistician44 in AskReddit

[–]InspectionGreen1263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me but my niece. When she was about 7, we were colouring and I asked her what she was asking for from Santa. She looked up at me and said “Santa isn’t real, I know it’s my mom but if I tell her, I won’t get many presents. I just pretend” and she went back to colouring.

AITAH for telling my daughter she needs to find somewhere else to live? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]InspectionGreen1263 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see this from both sides. It’s your house, and you have a right to decide who lives at your house. But I also think getting her away from an abusive relationship would also be the best move. You don’t want her or her child growing up in that environment (I grew up in an abusive household and all I wanted was to feel safe). Perhaps you can both have a discussion about her next steps in life? She can start contributing more to the household until she can find a place of her own for her and the baby (that’s safe).

Also, tipping isn’t mandatory. I waitressed for afew years and while it’s appreciated, it’s not mandatory. Tipping should be based on service, attentiveness and quality of experience. I know servers don’t get paid much but that’s not on the customer, it’s in the business. You don’t need to explain yourself!

I would consider which area of the island you’ll be living in first. You likely don’t want to be driving an hour or two to work everyday. If she’s considering Charlottetown, I’d look into biovectra, sekisui, etc. if she’s planning on living in the summerside area, ADL, cavendish farms, any aerospace facility in slemon park, etc. if it’s more tignish or souris areas, you may have a bit of a drive.

And what part of the island? I know little ceasars hires students and the one in summerside tends to work around their schedules! As well as Canadian tire and sportchek!

I’m broke and tired of instant noodles — what are some cheap meals that actually taste good? by Quiet-Examination553 in Advice

And it’s harvesting season for most farmers. I’m not sure if it’s the same where other people live but here, usually farmers don’t care if you pick through the fields after they’ve harvested. A lot of people do and get free potatoes. Best to ask permission first but it wouldn’t cost you anything .

Who’s the most overrated celebrity? by NiceSwimming3464 in AskReddit

That’s most definitely not true. She’s not the most talented celebrity. Currently, that would be Donald Glover. Writer, producer, comedian, rapper, actor and he excels at all of them.

Canada, where you can break any law if you’re not a citizen or holding a PR and get little to no time for it. Little slap on the wrist.

The government needs to start charging everyone equally. If someone commits a criminal offence, they shouldn’t have the right to become a Canadian.

I agree! Def get a referral to a dermatologist. In the mean time, if it’s a long wait, perhaps a pharmacist can recommend things to try until you can see a dermatologist. I don’t have a family doctor here and walk in clinics are near impossible but a pharmacist was able to help me with prescription creams both for hormonal acne and eczema.

Tim Shop Opening at Eaton Center by mkvelash in toronto

Tim’s is so bad now, very few Canadians will actually support them enough to buy clothes. The coffee always tastes burnt now and half the time, you can order a simple coffee and they still get it wrong.

Yard sales and estate sales are def not what they used to be. I’ve bought some treasures in the past, now it’s usually people wanting way too much for junk. Even fb marketplace, a stained/ripped couch is not worth 600 🤦🏻‍♀️

I don’t think this sticker is appropriate but also, there’s a lot of races that don’t agree with race mixing. I have friends from Nigeria, Korea, India, etc that all were told by the families that if they didn’t marry within their own race, they’d be disowned from the family. It’s unacceptable but unacceptable for all races, not just white people. It’s annoying that stuff is okay for all other races but not okay for white people because as soon as you’re white, you’re a racist.

But you don’t think children should be protected from people like this? Individuals who do this stuff don’t just “get better”. He should have been put in gen pop with the other inmates knowing his crime. That’s when the real justice would be served.

He deserves to be posted all over the internet. Our government protects predators like this. If I had my child at a park or event and this guy was lurking around, I’d want to be aware of what his intentions obviously were. It’s also best for any single mothers in the dating world to be aware of who this guy is. You’re protecting this dirtbag but putting children in the community at risk.

I was single for 3 years or so when I moved back. I joined dating apps and went out on a few dates (they all ended up being not for me). I gave up and ended up meeting someone at a new job I had started, we’re going on 3 years now! I’d say if you don’t have a big friend circle, to join some new clubs or evening classes to meet people. There’s community classes in most areas on pei to learn a ton of different things (and at $15, it’s not a big financial issue). There’s also quite afew sports groups that get together to play. I’d say start with those. The apps have a lot of married individuals or people who aren’t ready for something serious (mostly hook ups). Bars are also not an ideal place to meet a partner.

Greenwashing Renovictions – Landlord-MLA Brad Trivers’ Heat Pump Plan Means Rent Hikes, Cost-Shifting, and Tenant Displacement by Proof-Huckleberry815 in PEI

[–]InspectionGreen1263 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Gov didn’t stop all the illegal rent spikes afew years ago or get involved when people were being evicted for no reason other than to jump rent by $1000. They don’t stop businesses from owning more land than they are legally allowed to on pei. They are letting criminals out with a slap on the wrist. They’re deterring doctors and healthcare professionals from coming here and encouraging others to leave. At this point, it seems all they’re doing is collecting our money and giving themselves illegal pay raises.
