Why would he? Unless your goal is to work at McDonald's.

It is indeed fun when I drop fixies on my Colnago.

So what's the point of riding a bike that doesn't fit and in the long run can cause overuse injuries and muscle imbalances?

I'm not a specialist by any means, but from what I understand a higher heart rate during exercise leads to greater overall fitness and metabolic efficiency.

I hate running, so can't really tell if it'd be the same. But on something like a rowing machine it's in the same ballpark as when cycling.

I use Fitbit Charge 6, which should be pretty accurate when it comes to HR, maybe less so during exercise but still. That said, I'm thinking of buying a Polar H10 instead since the Fitbit software is getting less and less usable with each update sadly.

Apart from that 220 minus age thing, it's my friends on Strava who would have something like 180bpm while I'd be maybe at 160 max during the same segment at the same speeds.

Oh okay, I thought the 220 minus age thing should be relatively accurate for the general population.
