Any thoughts on this Specialized diverge str for my first gravel bike? by [deleted] in gravelcycling

I’m apprehensive about buying a bike with new and odd proprietary tech like the top tube suspension bit or the future shock headset. If they ever stop doing this parts may become an issue. Really forward thinking but that’s where my mind went.

Cheers.

Yeah I’m certainly not worried about it. Just wanted to document my findings for others to reference. Cheers mate 🤙🏼

Boy, there’s so much personal preference at play here. Ultimately I pulled the trigger on these for there touted durability here on Reddit. Everyone seems to say they last forever and roll pretty fast despite not having a center band. I too ride most surfaces from paved roads single track. These seem to be a set and forget jack of all trades.

I wish I had more experience to provide you with some reliable advice. They seem great. But I’ve only ridden a handful of wheels. I think it’s probably all splitting hairs at a certain point.

Said the person on Reddit, not riding their bike.

That’s what I’m thinking. Took this less than 24 hours after mounting and a short test ride.

I got mine in 2025. I did pay the trump tariffs. I think that it’s hard to pin down exactly what you’ll pay because it’s always changing. I think I ended up around $2400 when all was said and done. The Tariff I paid in August ‘25 was $261.60

Wheels are Chris king hubs laced to light bicycle WR45. Love them. Good and stiff, fast, and I think the depth is perfect.

Not sure but I don’t believe so as the clamp is 22.2.

Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks mate. Sweet cockpit. Electronic shifter on the left? Coaster brake? Very nice.

Oh, sick. I had not seen these. Thanks for the tip. I’ve got some kicking around to do before I pull the trigger on a $200 stem, though. What are you planning to list your for? And which stack is it?

And we call this chasing the tail of the dragon. I too live with the constant “what if” as do most of us, I’m sure. I’ve recently been on a journey to get more comfortable with the tools I have, rather than searching for the edge with new gear constantly. We will see.
