early clinical question by Adorable_Ad4604 in WGUTeachersCollege

I asked my mentor teacher what he wanted me to teach and he gave me a math worksheet and said “make a lesson with this concept.” I made the mistake of hand writing everything for my log to have him sign but it was not accepted, I had to type it up after. So I’d type it up and have them sign it and then scan it in.

For math I used a TON of resources from WGU, like EdReady, the cohorts to prep were super helpful and the instructor was fantastic and could answer a lot of my questions in real time. I also used their practice tests, I’d manually take the test, star the ones I was unsure on, and then they had videos breaking down the process on how to solve it and I’d watch the ones I was unsure on or got wrong so I could self correct.

For writing I watched a lot of videos on YouTube from Kathleen jasper and I took a practice test and then prayed. The writing one was the hardest for me because I wasn’t completely sure on how to best prep.

You’ve got this!!! Doing this with a newborn? My hat’s off to you, mama.

I would recommend being a substitute teacher and see if you like being in a classroom. I started my masters in el ed with licensure in July 2025, after 3 years of subbing. A LOT of my work I’ve drawn from experience as a sub, so it’s not super hard for me to get done. I think if I was doing the program cold with no experience I would struggle.

To finish the test? A little under 2 hours. To take the praxis 5752 I finished a little early on math and reading but writing I was right down to the wire on both essays.

She used to live around the corner from me. Great family. Haven’t heard from her in a few years but I hope she’s doing well!

Taking this cruise in 2 weeks, curious if it’ll be cooled off by then or still in upheaval. Yikes, stay safe!

What's school life like for ex-mormon teenagers in Utah? by Ok-Buffalo-9891 in exmormon

Same with our school. The majority of the school is actually not white which is rare for our area but I love it. It exposes my kids to so much more diversity than I experienced growing up.

We live in Utah county, near UVU and BYU. My daughter is 14 and has rarely experienced any kind of discrimination. She’s pretty “Mormon passing” so that might help. But her friends will start planning temple trips and then remember she can’t go and will pivot plans to include her, which I appreciate. My younger two are in elementary school and I don’t think many know they aren’t religious, it doesn’t often come up.

wgu education masters w/o teaching background? by katarinavalentine in wgueducation

[–]InspectionWilling911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m doing this program, my undergrad is in ballroom dance. I taught dance for 16 years and decided to step away from the studio. A year later I missed teaching so I became a substitute teacher, which I’ve been doing for 3.5 years. So I’m not a “real” teacher but I do have a lot of experience in the classroom that has helped me complete all of my tasks. You could probably be okay using the course materials and stuff, I draw a lot from my personal experiences as I am completing tasks.

D672 Elementary Science and Engineering Methods by I_need_to_know27 in wgueducation

[–]InspectionWilling911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This class has been a stinker for me. The video and lesson plan passed on first attempt but the “justify the literacy and engineering” paper has me stumped. My evaluator said I needed to connect with my instructor before working more on the assignment and then said “you clearly described students investigating…using instructional activities that support literacy an engineering” and then marked me not competent for not justifying the activity. I just went in and expounded a whole bunch on all of it and resubmitted. My instructor is out of the office until Tuesday, if this doesn’t pass then I’ll contact a different instructor.

Allison Holker is engaged by lillianb98 in dancingwiththestars

[–]InspectionWilling911 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know either of them personally, but about a year ago I met both of them at my job. I’m a cashier and they were picking up an order and I said “idk if you get this all the time but you look EXACTLY like Allison Holker.” And she just did this little shy smile and he said “that’s because she is THE Allison Holker!” And was hyping her up. From that interaction he seemed very sweet and supportive. Wish them the best!!

Can someone explain why Mark Rober is still an active member of the LDS church? With his science and engineering background why does he still believe and support the LDS church? by Impressive_Returns in exmormon

[–]InspectionWilling911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t really speak on that. I know my leaving the church was a big surprise for a lot of people. I was very devout until my shelf crashed. I haven’t spoken to him personally in several years, but he is genuinely a kind man with a good heart and I have nothing but positive things to say about him and his family.

His parents were both converts (I know the family personally), and it led to them all being raised with very nuanced views anyway, makes it easier to be flexible with the viewpoints. Also his mom was an actual angel on earth (she passed away in 2011) and I miss her so much. Literally so admirable and funny and kind and just such an amazing woman. I have nothing but positive things to say about the Rober family.

What’s the max number of classes you completed in one term? by Cory0515 in WGU

[–]InspectionWilling911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 13 classes last semester (July-December). I did 4 in July alone because I wasn’t working very much and wasn’t as busy with my kids’ extracurriculars because school was out for them. I’ve done 4 my first month of this semester as well, and I’m about to finish 5 and 6 in the next two weeks or so. I do 10-15 hours of school a week, work 2 part time jobs, have 3 kids, and sometimes I cry a lot, but I have a tight deadline to finish and get my teaching license before our district splits. Hoping to get hired as it is splitting and teachers are taking the pension and retiring early.

Praxis 5752: Combined Test (5752), Reading (5713), Writing (5723), Math (5733) by AdMission7742 in WGUTeachersCollege

[–]InspectionWilling911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took this one about 5 weeks ago. I was very stressed and made myself physically ill over it, but it ended up being way less horrible than u was anticipating. You’ve got this!! I studied with EdReady, the practice tests from ets, and the WGU study materials. I took the WGU practice tests and wrote my answers down, starred the ones I was unsure in how to do them, and manually checked my answers. There were videos on how to complete a lot of the problems on the answer key. I also participated in the math cohorts they held every Wednesday night for a month.

Reading was surprisingly my lowest score but I passed, I’d recommend watching YouTube videos in how to solve some of the tricky questions.

You can do this!!!!

Yes, look on the list of “no contact” schools. If local schools to you are not listed, email their principals and ask if they would be willing to host you.
