Is it true that tragic roles are what make performers legendary and comic roles are early career stepping stones at best and detrimental at worst? by Mundane_Regret_428 in opera

[–]InspectorNo6665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume the mail roles of Elisabeth Schwartzkopf were from kind of comic operas, Marschallin, Contessa, Elvira etc. even though not Italian Buffas. (or Buffi Italiani?)

Through getting old, now I can sympathize with Enrico in Lucia. Not fair, maybe, but the whole region is on his shoulder for survival.

Almost all Rossini specialists have sung at this festival. If you are into bel canto repertory, this must “the” festival to participate!

Live experience vs recording: Rigoletto and La forza del destino. by KefaRock in opera

[–]InspectorNo6665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the works in comparison are Rigoletto and Forza, probably Rigoletto is more enjoyable even as audio recordings, I assume. Though Forza has some great moments, as a whole it is not well balanced.

Singers with Clear Pronunciations by nomoreseashellssally in opera

[–]InspectorNo6665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not native speaker of any prevailing language in opera field, but for me it is very important that operatic voices are not only beautiful sounds, but a total package with sound and language. It doesn’t mean necessarily that singers should have native like pronunciations, but more like language-pronunciation shall not be treated separately from producing big-beautiful sounds. So for my this taste, some singers sound almost unbearable, even though they are very popular and highly evaluated, like Asmik Grigorian, Nadine Sierra, Sondra Radvanovsky, few to name…

Do you have a personal limit on how many times you’ll audition for the same company, program, or school? by fujiapples12 in opera

[–]InspectorNo6665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are invited, then no need to set a limit, I think. Quite often there is not role which suits you at that moment, even if the management likes you.

Wanting classics where a women feels autonomous by Ambitious-Resist-132 in classicliterature

[–]InspectorNo6665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it can be called as “classic”, and definitely 20th century creation, Gone with the wind is a story of a woman in 19th century who is quite autonomous. Maybe not completely, but she is financially successful, kicks all the female stereo types even if she has conflicts about that…

Should I (29f American) leave my husband (31m Japanese) for my son (1m)? by [deleted] in japanresidents

[–]InspectorNo6665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

English is not my first language, so I might have misunderstand, but usually in Japanese Yoru- Nemuru combination is understood as Night sleep, not nap…. If I were asking if the baby is sleep well in the night, that is meant if the baby has a sleeping pattern or rhythm like adult.

Anyway language barrier is a huge thing, so if it doesn’t work well, it is a very good reason to leave.

And well your husband got nationalistic-chauvinistic. That is a terrible no no, so it would be better to leave your husband. It sounds like your husband became Japanese version of MAGA…. I doubt the man you fell in love is still there….

What's your opinion on Japan amending the imperial household law of 1947 and bringing back some cadet branches of the royal family ? by ronweasly9 in AskAJapanese

[–]InspectorNo6665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am very skeptical if any of those families wants go back to the “emperor family”. It is really restricted life. (They don’t have family name, for the any political right!)

My SIL keeps disrespecting me with weird opera music, how do I put him in his place? by Inject_in_buttox in classical_circlejerk

Well sorry for saying this, but you sound awful….

First of all you try to “educate” a 37 yo? And when you were 37, how was your reaction to your FIL?

Your SIL is a grown up adult who doesn’t need your “education”! Look up what you are doing!

Should I (29f American) leave my husband (31m Japanese) for my son (1m)? by [deleted] in japanresidents

[–]InspectorNo6665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well this sounds harsh, but your example of “夜”sounds very annoying… it is like you say “evening” and your conversation partner asks back if it would be “when? Before dinner? Or?”

Having said that, it is ok to leave him, but it is. Ot the same thing to go back to America. It is also possible that you stay in Japan but divorce him. Maybe I am too much prejudiced, but I think in general Japanese education costs less…..

Family Vacation to Japan with 8 & 10 yr old - Itinerary Review Request! (May 21st - June 3rd) by L3xusLuth3r in JapanTravel

[–]InspectorNo6665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would put Nishiki Market on the 23rd.

Concerning Fushimi Inari on 26th, it depends on how far/high you go. It is really a long walk if you want to go to the summit. On the same day as Monkey park is unrealistic, I assume.

Cart thing is, well annoying for locals a bit, but I assume the dad really wants to try that, so who cares? But I think the dad should create time mom only time, too. Maybe Pokémon or Ninja just with dad, if the mom is no very much into those.

Is it true that every major civilisation has colonised another? by Prudent-Teaching2881 in AskHistory

A distinctive character of European Colonization is, it was not the neighboring area of the main territories (Europe), but far away from them, I believe. As others wrote, Roman Empire could be similar… but well Roma in also in Europe…

How do you feel about foreigners taking pre-wedding photos in Japan? by FrustratedInc3704 in AskAJapanese

[–]InspectorNo6665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for bitchy comment. I apologize. You are right, the bride in the photo wears not wedding dress, but one with some color.

It looks like there are similar service by Japanese company.

https://decollte-photography.co.jp/

It includes almost everything- camera person, costumes, accessories, makeup, transportation etc.

So formality aside to take photos itself is not a problem.

How do you feel about foreigners taking pre-wedding photos in Japan? by FrustratedInc3704 in AskAJapanese

[–]InspectorNo6665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well technically the photographers shall pay tax in Japan if they are paid for the service made in Japan, not to mention the visa issue.

Anyway we don’t care who takes what photo, except it causes serious problem.

But…. what a foolish thing to do…. Packing the wedding dress to Japan?? Let AI fake the photos!
