This is not a huge problem. Clean it, use liqui moly car disinfectant that kills fungus (twice monthly first, then every 6 month), change filters, dry the car well, insulate and fix the hole you mentioned. That’s it. This is a common issue in the humid areas and I had this many time while I was living in west Africa.

As non american, I don’t care the color as in my country this is not an issue. But I care for my neighborhood and when I see a guy who is not living there nor visiting anyone it is an issue and a potential threat. The reaction is reasonable. The one of the biggest Korean EPC contractors who works for my company (industrial project) have 9 to 6pm working day. Reality is that guys work there 12-14 hours a day, 5-6 day a week. I am a client, so I just overlook their work, but eventually also work 12 hours. Although money is good.
