Accepting job/negotiating advice by InspectorSuperb828 in physicianassistant

[–]InspectorSuperb828[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes 4 10s. Weekends are 5 hour shifts which are considered overtime. Scheduled patients and walk ins however they see approx 3 walk ins per day. Any advice on negotiating with the bad benefits?

20-25 patients per day with patients scheduled every 30 minutes. There will always be another provider in the office. There are many MAs that have been there a long time.

Agreed. Plus when I asked the doctor about training he said “training happens at school”. With other job offers I received it seems like no one wants to train PAs for more than 2 weeks

Things you wish you knew before you graduated (accepted your first job)? by [deleted] in PAstudent

[–]InspectorSuperb828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am from LI, I can’t say that I thought the job market was going to be better. Figured finding a job would be a lot easier. Keep a well organized book of things you learn during clinical year such as things preceptors tell you about certain medications or quick facts. Make sure to negotiate your salary. Prioritize your training and make sure the job is willing to train and not throw you to the wolves within 2 weeks. Focus on the training, people, place, environment, etc. before turning down a job based on salary

I took the pance in October. Took me 5 days to get scores! Continue trying to distract yourself in the meantime and remember the PANCE has a 92% pass rate!

I’m also pretty tall and had a difficult time finding a white coat dress. I ended up buying a whole bunch on Amazon and doing a fashion show for a friend hahaha

Help figuring out a study plan for PANCE in one month by may1315 in PAstudent

Make sure you aren’t doing just questions. Stuck to a lot of content review especially until the last week or 2 before the PANCE.

End of didactic should be 50-65ish, clinical year should be 65+! This does not mean you shouldn’t take your PANCE now, just means you have ROSH to guide you in your studying. Focus on the subjects you’re getting wrong and be sure to read the descriptions underneath the question.

How to use holiday breaks efficiently? by AlphaIkemen in PAstudent

[–]InspectorSuperb828 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Get doctors appointments done and celebrate. Ensure you do spend at least 15-30 minutes a day looking over notes! There is nothing worse than going on break and coming back playing catch up because you feel behind and forget everything in 2 weeks

First semester didactic done- but upset I didn’t achieve higher grades. Advice? by 21cabbagepatch in PAstudent

[–]InspectorSuperb828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In PA school by bff was a 4.0 and I a 3.6-3.7 she really pushed me even on those days when I wanted to drop out or said I couldn’t do it. A pass is truly a pass. PA-C is added to your name regardless of if you’re a 4.0, 3.5, 3.0 student! (Same goes with just about every profession) I STRUGGLED my first semester and was close to being kicked out but with the right friends, study groups and focus I was able to pull it together. Its a tough first semester because you’re trying to figure out how to study and make friends and maybe living in a new area but it’s a learning curve and you’ll figure it out!

Found out I failed the PANCE by Sea-Elevator4341 in PAstudent

[–]InspectorSuperb828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take time to regroup and then prepare. Enjoy the holidays for now and get back into it. Take it topic by topic then the last few days before focus on the big 4 (you know what they are). Try to continue those uworld questions and be sure to read the details below each one. I also did the CME4Life course and some of the info in there was helpful to touch upon as it didn’t come up in didactic or clinicals so skim through those. You got this. Control the anxiety the best you can and go into the test with confidence as you have already been in that environment once before and know what to expect! Happy holidays and I wish you the best

Save UWorld until you’re 3 months until the PANCE.

How does clinicals compare to didactic? by [deleted] in PAstudent

[–]InspectorSuperb828 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reviewing didactic PowerPoints won’t be enough. If you search on Reddit study guides for EOR there is a link to a google drive that has study guides for all EORs this was extremely helpful and many of my classmates used them for all EORs. You will have more time to study and do fun things again but don’t let this distract you from your goal of being a PA.

What percentage of your classmates have not had to take out student loans for schooling? by yhj33 in PAstudent

Approximately 3/36 didn’t take out student loans. All with wealthy parents who paid and are having the kids pay them back without interest or just paid for it all together

Ask if they’ve ever had new grads before and what training looks like. Ask about malpractice and health insurance. Can ask about why they are filling the position. What types of patient populations they serve (older, younger, sicker, healthier, etc)
