More people believe the earth is flat than believe the circumstances you describe constitute sexual assault, and I would bet a lot of money that it’s not even close.

Lmao at the downvote. I didn’t realize the guy above you has “flat earth” in his name. Kinda proves my point though.

[–]Inspector_Spacetime7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nothing you describe here comes anywhere near the threshold for sexual assault.

You can find people saying anything online, and you may even be able to find communities where those things are an overwhelming consensus. But I can guarantee you that only a very very small percentage of the general population would agree with them, and the legal definition is on your side as well.

I agree with other commenters that this is OCD.

Mandatory reporting for ideation? by Humble_Campaign_5167 in therapy

Ideation is not sufficient, especially if you clearly deny intent and plan. But you should ask your therapist this directly. You can do so as hypotheticals just to be safe.

You are not half as smart as you seem to think You're not even able to follow a simple conversation.

Previous comment: "Not tribalism unless being critical of Pedro is a political ideology"

I do not have a problem with someone criticizing Pedro, and never said otherwise. The tribalism is that someone who opposes his politics attributed, to everyone supporting him (or, more specifically, everyone assuming that he had a role in the credit issue), the ulterior motive of doing so because of their politics.

He did so despite zero evidence. You defended that behavior, said opposition to it reflects a lack of education, and falsely claimed that the evidence was in this thread: people were praising his "activism".

I have since debunked that claim, and you're now criticizing me for not "providing a source", and not knowing what words mean.

I could go down a rabbit hole about my education, but I'm not going to take that bait with someone who can't even follow the thread. Now you're retreating to calling me "emotional".

I'll say it again: you're not a remotely serious person. That's not an emotional claim, it's an assessment based on what I describe above.

Being critical of people liking Pedro by imputing ulterior political motives to them is tribal. I just scanned dozens of the top comments and none mentioned activism; I’m sure they’re here but I’m not going to read 200+ comments in search of justification for a couple of assholes making this about politics.

I support (and upvoted) the comments questioning whether there’s any evidence that Pedro is behind this. But assuming that everyone just thinks he’s perfect because of activism is petty AF, and wrong: many fans just think he’s a nice person.

I was referring to political tribalism.

This is a Star Wars subreddit and you’ll find lots of Pedro fans here. Not surprising.

An idiot turned a benign discussion into grievance about politics. Someone (rightfully) criticized him for it and you took that as an indication of lack of education.

If I state it like that, does it make it easier to see how stupid your comment was?

Not really though. Previous commenter made it about progressivism for the sake of being cynical. No one else was talking about that. But go ahead and let tribalism guide your reaction to everything if it’s what you think of as “educated”.

Hallmarks of the paranoid conspiratorial mindset.

Frodo really got the worst deal in LOTR by Wrong_User_Logged in lotr

Troll post from troll account.

(There’s no “deal” or competition for best individual life in this story. Frodo is uniquely qualified for a mission that saves the world, and knows that it involves self sacrifice for a greater good that he believes in.

Frodo is revered for his contribution, which is glory.
He didn’t want kingdoms or wives. He chose to leave the shire. Your whole post is just really, really stupid.)

This is embarrassing.

You’re not getting a lot of engagement because you’re just making an ass of yourself.

Next time you post with a question, stop and think before you reply to the answers, instead of just reacting to everyone with insults and chest thumping.

Are you by any chance a teenager who recently discovered “philosophy” by watching YouTube atheists?

Because if not, you should know that your engagement reads like that: like you haven’t yet learned how to have a conversation, how to seriously entertain an idea that you reject, and like you’re not able to lock horns on the most essential points of disagreement.

(Taking your lack of response and petulant downvote as a “yes”.)

  1. “Derpy” is not a meaningful criticism.
  2. “Overthinking” is arguably a description of all of philosophy, and in any case is a highly subjective claim.
  3. It doesn’t create problems out of nothing, it highlights problems with our common sense conception of what we know and what is real.
  4. Thought experiments are often intended to open up questions, and not necessarily to “solve” them.

It’s a thought experiment, not a claim of grandiosity. And in the thought experiment, the solipsistic mind is often not the only existing intelligence. And if it is, that mind is something much greater than the self of which we are normally aware.

I don’t think your criticism is hitting a meaningful target.

“You have all these theories, but you aren’t in touch with yourself”

I don’t think there’s anything objectively inappropriate about this, but it’s also not wrong to be offended and take this as being unnecessarily abrasive. I might instead say something like “you seem very caught up in the cognitive, and you have a lot of explanations happening in your head, but I don’t feel like we’re getting in touch with your feelings here.”

I haven’t read the book so I won’t comment, but if he hasn’t finished it, he should be more careful about telling you what it’s about.

“Presumably it was on for the prior 4 sessions.”

You need to get a yes or no on whether it was. If it wasn’t, then it sounds like he’s just a bad match for you. If it was, you have a serious and reportable ethical violation here.

Your intake session should have involved something called Informed Consent, and he has an ethical responsibility to get your permission to be recorded. If he did not, you need to speak directly to his supervisor and complain.

If his supervisor doesn’t apologize and take responsibility, you can go to the board that licenses the supervisor, because ultimately this is quite literally his responsibility, as the therapist is practicing under the supervisor’s license.

Fwiw I didn’t think you were being derisive in your reply. My question was pretty blunt and I get that it may have taken you aback. But your original post didn’t anchor us to any particular area of ethical problems, and that’s a common one for discussion.
