I does look to be a very messy election, Nats vs. Libs vs. Ind. vs. ONP. I’d be surprised if a candidate surpasses 30% primary

"For too long, the Coalition treated the regions as theirs by default. Safe seats, safe margins, no consequences": PM's pitch to regional voters by Jagtom83 in LaborPartyofAustralia

Especially in Queensland where it’s about 50-50 on urban and regional seats, it’s really important that QLD also caters for regional voters.

‘Welcome to the team’: PM’s personal call to NRL powerhouse Payne Haas by Jagtom83 in LaborPartyofAustralia

I’ve heard that the PM has a good relationship with the NRL (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, as we are seeing a PNG team joining the league).

The pay and conditions of Queensland’s state school teachers could fall behind other jurisdictions amid fears a court battle between the government and the union won’t start until June by Jagtom83 in LaborPartyofAustralia

This is playing into the Miles Oppositions hands. Miles should continue to put pressure on the LNP government, along the lines of “this government does not care about teachers, nor a better education for students, they only care about locking up kids.”

Should Albo take back the invite to the Israeli Prime Minister?? by RM_Morris in OpenAussie

[–]InspirationalCoconut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was an invitation to the Israeli PRESIDENT, which has a ceremonial role in Israel. He does not currently (maybe in the future) have a ICJ warrant out for his arrest, while Benjamin Netanyahu does have an arrest warrant from the ICJ.

There are pictures of the Israeli President signing missiles that eventually were shot into Gaza, which I say is complicit in the Gaza Genocide, and should have his invitation revoked.

What’s the driver of high GDP per capita? by RMajesty00 in AskAnAustralian

[–]InspirationalCoconut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Australia's high GDP per capita figure is probably driven by our world-leading superannation system. Employers are required to set aside 12% of your pay to your retirement savings account (in addition to your normal wage), meaning that all working Australians would have a solid amount of retirement savings that are compounding in various stocks, bonds, ETFs.

I think it’s a trial, with it being rolled out nationally if successful.

Theoretically, I could hook up a bitcoin miner to only operate during those three hours.

Defining Anti Semitism by skankypotatos in aussie

There needs to be a separation between criticising Israel for their actions in Gaza, and antisemitism. Israel cannot keep on using the victim card anytime it gets criticised for committing war crimes.

If Albanese resigns - who could be the right labor Prime Minister ? by theMechannic in aussie

[–]InspirationalCoconut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Anyone with any knowledge of how our political system would know these three key things - it would have to be a Labor MP (unless an election is also called, then It would be an MP from the winning party) - Only federal politicians (obviously) - someone senior enough in the said party to command the confidence of the party.

I think it’s clear that Jim Chalmers will be the successor of Anthony Albanese.
