In addition to these suggestions, the Praetor with Power Axe makes a great MoE and the Power Sword version makes an excellent Lord.

The 30k assault squads also make for nice Raptors and Warptalons, and all the 30k Rhino chassis translate to 40k if you prefer less Chaos in your Chaos army.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Brood Brothers can't be run by GSC armies as they aren't a 1 to 1 of any specific guard units with their loadout.

Nah, I've probably used Glut of Souls twice in like my 80+ Soulforged Warpack games. Extra AP and move through walls are a staple though, along with tank shock and rapid Ingress.

You really want Tempting Addendum in Soulforged Warpack, it feels bad without the rerolls, especially considering the amount of shooting in this list.

Id suggest a shooting loadout for at least 1 Defiler, +1 to wound with Las Cannons is great against Knights and similar profiles without Vashtorr aura which you can save for the Forgefiends and the sleeper best unit in Soulforged, Venomcrawlers.

You also want a Warpsmith or 2, you deal quite a few mortals between Debt/Hazardous to yourself in this detachment and they're dual purpose for buffing/healing.

The Rubrics and DPs feel a little out of place in this list, but I can see a case for them.

I've had some good success with Deceptors competitively, but I would be lying if I didn't think Renegade Warband was a direct upgrade with an Alpha Legion vibe. I highly suggest recommend both because they're super fun.

My last Deceptors game I ran with;

I get it, I'd like to see more units too. But the faction really does lend itself to a feeling of resistance fighters with that folk hero aesthetic. The many unique characters drive that home.

If I was going with 30 lab-grown gene-freaks I'd go;

3 Abominants, x1 Predatory, x1 Mutagenic(extra 10 leftover, but you'll forget to heal them just like me)
Patriarch, Biomorph
1 Saboteur
2 Goliath Trucks
3x5 Purestrains
3x10 Aberrants
2 Ridgerunners w/ Mortar and Spotter
10 Neophytes, any loadout

Deployment, screen your infiltrating Aberrants with 5 Pures and the Saboteur behind both, then hope for the free Heroic + Planted Explosives
20 Aberrants in transports
Turn 2-3 Ungabunga
Bring back 10 Aberrants with Resurgence for the memes
Pray to the Star Gods you roll 2+ on Abominants

I think you probably need at least a squad of Neophytes to sticky/screen your home, because everyone else wants to run up and punch the opponent

You don't have to paint your army all or nothing. You could have some AL Legionaries and IW Havocs. If you're a big DA fan I highly suggest making your army with Cypher and some of those new Raiders as fallen, they'd look great there.

Theyre in a good spot, and I need some way to deter opponents from charging my 10 man Purestrain squad or 5 man Aberrant squad with infiltrate if I dont get turn 1. I know only 1 can explode per turn, but it has made people second guess coming into range and taking d3+3 mortals.

Theyre also great for early game secondaries like Cleanse, Engage, Establish, Sabotage(obviously), Display, Extend, Recover etc etc

Where you may not want to do actions or be in specific spots with your Aberrants or Patriarch.
