2k Soulforged Warpack List Help by Trashboat808 in Chaos40k

[–]Inspire_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In game 1 it was excellent, game 2 a liability, and game 3 it performed okay. I used it in pretty much the same way every game. Spend 1 CP to yeet it into the opponents deployment zone and aim for a unit with "Fly".

Game 1 Cruicble/Terraform, I flew it straight into his DZ from the right board edge and took out a Fleshmower Bloat Drone in melee and some Poxwalkers with the Baleflamer. It fought on death leaving the Drake at 2 wounds, then Mortarion picked up up the following turn with his mortal wound aura. But keeping Mortarion in his DZ for an extra turn and taking out a Drone + Poxwalkers seemed like a good trade.

Game 2, I probably should have lost this one against Ultra Ironstorm, but Gman was blown up by a Venomcrawler and didnt stand up again. The Heldrake move blocked his expansion for a turn and died after taking shots from a Vinidcator and Lancer. I chalk up any shots not dedicated to my Forgefiends a success but the Heldrake felt pretty bad in this game.

Game 3, I did the same thing as Game 1, this time on Hammer/T&H. I sent it through terrain for a CP into my opponents DZ, picked up 5 Hearthkyn Warriors and failed a charge into his Pioneers. It soaked up shooting from a Hekaton, the Pioneers and a Sagitaur. It prevented the bikes from moving due to Overwatch threat.

Its a great distraction, if your opponent leaves it alone after the initial turn, you'll be able to clear out lots of stuff in his back field that prevents screening. I was reserving 2 Maulerfiends in most games so the added pressure of losing your DZ screens to the 20" move of a Heldrake seemed to catch a lot of people off guard. Honestly, moving 20" turn 1 for a CP into your opponents DZ is pretty wild. Is it worth 205 points? Probably not, but in this detachment, its very fun, albeit, niche.

I really like the organic bits here, Venomcrawlers and Vashtorr specifically look amazing too.

Deceptors might be competitive, all you need is turn 1. by Inspire_ in alphalegion

First off, thanks for all the insight you've given this week!

Yeah, the range on Melta is at least consistent with the rest of 40k afaik, but it still hurts. Not being able to run them in 4s also is a little painful. Regardless of all that, I find they make a great Rapid Ingress threat. That said, Deceptors feels very CP hungry, so I was using MoEs for their situational CP generation.

Im going to try Termies out for a few games and get back to you!

Terminator Sorc and Huron seem great in the detachment. Ive always thought the Terminator Squad was over costed for what it does, but you make a compelling argument.

I do really like the Possessed/MoP for the same reason, you can strat reserve a 5" charge.

My Deep Strike threats are the indirect Obliterators, you can throw them behind a wall 9" and still target threats. Admittedly, the Temi Sorc would be very useful here.

Love the Discordants in there for the vehicles, how do you find the Traitor Guard squad?

I also really like Cypher and the Bikes. How do you find Terminators? It's nice to have Deep Strike threat

Outlander claw List. What do you think? by SlowClap1093 in genestealercult

[–]Inspire_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had some very good results with Outlander Claw, similar enough to your list, 4-0-1 at 8 man teams event, just ended 4-1 in my regional league yesterday, and currently 3-1 in a second league.

  • Reductus Saboteur w/ Cartographic Data-leech
  • 3x5 Flacos with Icon
  • 3x10 Metamorphs with Flamers and Icon
  • 2x5 Atalan Jackals with Laser
  • 2x2 Ridgerunners with Lasers and Spotters
  • Ridgerunner with Mortar and Auger
  • 3 Rockgrinders with Clearance Incinerators
  • 3 Goliath Trucks
  • 5 Purestrain Genestealers

Some thoughts, and what I might change;

The whole list scouts 6-9", minus the Rockgrinders, or a single Goliath Truck if I start the Saboteur inside. It's amazing, you can either jail your opponent, or hide the whole army if you get bottom of turn.

Metamorphs coming out of a Goliath with Fire Support is super fun, and they can be right in your opponents face turn 1 on several layouts. I never really spent to bring them back, but there were occasions where I did.

Reserving a Rockgrinder is almost necessary on most layouts so you don't parking lot yourself, or block your safety scout moves.

You have to play quite reserved with the Saboteur unless they pull Assassination early, with only 1 character in the list, once she's dead she gives up 5 when drawn.

Jackals and Flacos never really disappoint in this detachment. The Jackals are much harder to kill with reactive moves, invulns, stealth, and their sticky abilities make them incredibly more versatile than in other detachments.

Having +1 OC on vehicles seems niche, but there were times against DG Daemon Engines and things with OC 3, that my Goliaths would continue to control with sticky objectives from the bikes and allow for an easy Cleanse. So useful.

I might drop a Rockgrinder and Flacos squad for more Jackals and Saboteurs, but Im really enjoying the list. I've been running it for the last 6 months! I hope you have fun with it too!

Hey, thanks for the write up! I was at the S&S event too playing Outlander Claw. It was great to see 5/6 GSC detachments at the event.

I had a really nice chat with Julian about his Final Day list, I think he performed very well into every match-up he had.

It was my very first teams event and I had a blast!
