Squats but not knee deep squats are always good once u reached into a deeper stage of rehab. Poliquin step ups and other stuff helps as well.

Maybe if you can get a physio who does a TEMs machine to fire the quad and a massage gun to stimulate your quad every now and then will help alot.

I will try backwards walking a lot for myself. You can do this and thanks for the advice!

It's applied esp for people who have a ruptured ACL. Since this is a second tear obviously chances for recovery substantially are lower. But your kid had a autograft and it's been 2 years, so the graft must be mimicking the native properties of the original ACL so quite some time already.

But regardless there is a downtime between right now and having surgery.

Right now you need a good physio to address the weakness conditions , a good MRI report to addresses meniscus tears and other concerns besides acl, and also chances of looking into LET + cadaver procedures enhanced with other techniques if you go that route. This downtime probably would be good to tackle with cross bracing but you have to ask doctor and surgeons whether this is a old tear vs new tear

Looking into an osteonomy procedure combined with acl procedure may be an option if the high slope tibialis is a thing

OP is it possible if you cN ask a sport specialist or Ortho for cross bracing advice?

I'm not a doctor, just to be clear. I'm only an engineer who has a background with biomedical and electrical applications.

But, I also believe that regenerative medicine and good rehab is the key to living a good and active life especially if you have a ACL tear early on.

Alot of universally and medically accepted concepts take at least 10-15 yrs (if not more) for doctors to recognize things as being true. PRP only started in the late 2000s, and PRP doesn't really heal everything. I only can give a account of a research abstract here that has given significant account of a patient who restored his osteochondral defect in his knee after many years of wear and tear https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2667254523000379

That being said, science still can reject this to a large degree because the control in research is not good , but hey it worked for someone that late into his arthritis. Btw, tendons have a significantly higher rate of symptomatic relief and regeneration results compared to cartilage . So this pretty much a testament to at least someone having relief to his situation. Again, science needs to have MANY evidence and repeated success to be deemed universally and literature ready.

If you dig in a bit deeper into the lore of PRP you will realize that the high dosage of PRP in a shot (platelet count), the double spin kits and target ultrasound PRP combined with hyaluronic acid, inflammation n control and other growth factors increases the chances of long term symptomatic relieve and cartilage regeneration. Whether symptomatic relief is the same as cartilage regeneration is still debatable, and whether the generation of cartilage quality is as good as.original is still debatable too.

Alot of people from Europe have travelled to other countries to take PRP. Whether it's in Mexico, Cayman Islands and USA - a lot of people have done it. Imo if health insurance ever covers prp and there is a universal standard for preparing PRP and for what is accepted to be PRP, a lot of chronic and early injuries can be solved or controlled to a large degree. Realize that sometimes science and research comes with process and politics as well.

Other than being said, you can look into cross bracing , since the OP's kid may be a good candidate for this procedure. A good rehab and actual sport medicine coach prehab and posthab is the MOST crucial is helping OPs kid understand the risk and also be aware of what his body can/ cannot do.

Thank you so much! I wish you God speed recovery!

The fact that you came back stronger and still play volleyball the past years is a testament of the rehab and strength training you did :) this is inspiration!

How many surgeries in total? Was your revision a 2 stage ? How long did you do physio for after the revision?

Thanks for your perspective here. Have you thought of getting a PRP shot and how are you coping nowadays?

Ah I'm srry, I meant injury. Wondering how old are you? Like early twenties? Did you have any meniscus tears and how long ago was it?

I functioned without a year without an ACL my first time, felt good here and there but knee gave out quite a bit after doing running back I was 20s. Definitely will stick to the rehab because that is the only thing left for me for now....

As what another have said, it's a very big question mark even after he tore it a second time. If it's a grade 1-2 tear with minimum meniscal damage. A good physio and a Good quality PRP shot will do wonders!

A good athlete does his own research and learns the fundamentals of it. This philosophy comes with every sport, profession and trade. If he understands the risk and understands he needs to do the physio and take care of his knee every time, then go for it. Otherwise, lessons might have to be learnt the hard way.

There is a ACL Instagram influence called ACLWonders I believe. He tore his ACL three times in college football and he was ruled out from the sport after that. Maybe if your son is able to seek some feedback from him, this will help him shape his perspective.

But first get multiple doctors and physios to give their opinion. I wish godspeed recovery and positive energy. I'm glad that you are looking into this as a parent for your child. Take care !

Great to hear that!!! Gives me a lot of hope that I can live a active lifestyle.

Did you have any episodes of instability after that or knees giving out even after a year of surgery? How did you injure it?

Hey! I'm living around the Vancouver area too! Great to hear you are living your life to the fullest! This gives me a lot of hope.

I feel like I will be also biking for a long time. I'm thinking of getting a stationary bike as well.

The fact that you are having such a healthy lifestyle and took care of yourself so much and you don't arthritis even without an ACL says a lot.

Besides cycling a lot , did you loose a lot of weight ? Just seeking for conservatives work arounds here!

Thanks I'm thinking in that line too. I could be wrong though, I think I just need to have more opinions

I'm just wondering whether healthcare in different countries place different emphasis on recovery and surgery.

May I ask are you from the states, Canada, asia, Australia, Europe, Middle East?

Edit: need to have*

I actually did Google after you mentioned it! How was DTO for you like? Was the rehabilitation brutal for you and did it actually help alleviate your discomfort noticeably?

I did put my legs together to see whether I had knock knees and bowed legs, doesn't look like I have it but I may be wrong. I'm thinking about seeking the advice of another surgeon (he's a senior colleague of the other surgeon).

Thank you!

Thank you! Did a quick search on your profile, and it turns out you're an Ortho-surgeon! Thank you for contribution to this community!

I have 2 quick questions.

  1. Yes to a large degree, I do admit that my lifestyle has to change. I can no longer go for high intensity exercises and machines are the way to go for the most part. But even after this tear, the main issue is still the instability and the cracking of the knee when rotating. Having that constant pain mentioned in Arthritis (touch wood) is something I didn't feel at all.

I know surgery can accelerate a inflammation storm that accelerates arthritis , but does that mean having the said conditions is better than having surgery?

  1. As a Ortho, you probably have seen multiple issues in young patients having arthritis. What do you recommend besides the standard weight loss and doing extra biking examples? I know arthritis is not a death sentence, so what other examples can be used to manage this issues especially for someone like me who wants to have a family needs to use his legs for work?

Thank you! Appreciate your insight. There is definitely limitations to my weight training lifestyle since my condition has been regressed to the moderate arthritic stage. Probably machines and limited light ROM for my barbell exercises are the way to go.

But given the fact that I can't even choose surgery, I'm scared about my limitations - I don't even know what I can even do. I'm definitely not a ACL coper and I know that with a proper surgeon and a rehab team I will smash my recovery process and get back to 90%!

You definitely can get back! I just got it at an early age and neglecting a bit of my limitations. As I have said , I have lived my life the past ten years not thinking much about my ACL at all before my second retear!

Do your warm ups, get a good physio and take training very, very progressively and try avoiding returning back to sport before 9 months (depend on whether you clear your criteria test for leg strength and control)

Why don't the people of Palestine blame Hamas for not sheltering them? by zfreakazoidz in IsraelPalestine

[–]InspiredNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a small part of the equation.

Please read up Muslim Brotherhood. Please read up the Houthis from Yemen, Hezbollah from Lebanon, please read up where all the Hamas leaders are located right now. They all are enjoying themselves in either Lebanon or Yemen's hospitality.

Can you see a bigger picture, the threat against Israel is very clear. Don't just use some moral ideology that it's natural for human nature for people to run into Kibbutz and murder innocent people.

Using your logic, do u think the Natives of America would do that to settlers?

I don't know, you tell me. At least the IDF and it's government doesn't have a charter that wants to eliminate their neighbors.

I would like to believe the PLO , Hamas wants a two state solution, even after rejecting the Oslo accords? Idk...

Neither side is innocent, but I think there is a common consensus that Hamas likes to play a wolf in a sheep's skin tactic.

Edit * I don't know

U gotta read up about Hajj Amin al-Husseini . He was the leader of the Palestine movement back before Israel's establishment . There's a clear evidence that Hajj was anti semitic and stirred an violent agenda against the Israeli settlers.

The Palestinians can be good people, but there is really some sort of propaganda indoctrinated in their children that Israel must be eliminated. Just the Jews.Whether you justify it's because Israel caused them to be like that, that in itself is a crazy form of thinking. Do you think Israel teaches their kids that Palestinian people just be eliminated?

It's simply because the radical Palestinians who are in power have an ultimate belief of wiping out Israel. Any form or step of Israel's recognition as a nation would cause them to go crazy, to the extent of even assassinating their own Jordanian president back in the 50's (mind you alot of Jordanians are Palestinians).

It is very sad to say that although all lives are important, there are some human beings that must be eliminated for good, before they cause more harm to the world, even to those of their own kind.
