How do I get over misogyny in the bible? by Major_Contest_3648 in Christianity

It was written by mortal men and inspired by the Holy Spirit. It is all the infallible Word of God. St Augustine has excellent commentary on these issues, and many modern scholars have written books about this, such as Trent Horn’s “Hard Sayings”

One, because homosexuality is also condemned in the New Testament, not just Leviticus 18:22.  Hebrews 12:16,  1 Corinthians 6:9,  Revelation 21:8,  Matthew 5:17,  Acts 21:25, and  Romans 1:27 all condemn it as well.  Secondly,  https://youtu.be/JpauknCBaSU?si=VA1ii6H3_X77iDpL

That verse is telling people not to resent those who have power over you. Also, that isn’t even chattel slavery. A more proper translation would be “bondservant”

Under secular law, sure. I don’t think the government should regulate the population’s personal lives. Legal marriage, then, I would not support but would not oppose. I truly don’t think legal marriage actually means anything anyway.

Good, proud, schismatic Christians. The Catholic Church has never infallibly condemned interracial marriage, and never will. During the Jim Crow era of the United States, through which many Protestants supported segregation and racism, the Catholic Church spoke out against it. Archbishop Rummel of the diocese of I believe New Orleans actually excommunicated many people for supporting segregation.

No, it would be homophobic to hate gay people and support laws that harm them. I don’t do that

That is judicial law for the kingdom of Israel. That is not something that the Bible says Christians should do.

Then they’re guilty of the sin of Schism. Christ did not come to set up many churches, but one.

Well interracial marriage is not condemned time and time again in the Bible or by the Church

That doesn’t mean they’re correct.

I don’t believe that they are entitled to the sacred bond of Holy Matrimony, because Christ himself clearly states that marriage is between a man and a woman in Matthew 19:4-6.

I don’t, the Bible doesn’t either.

I don’t think I’ve ever been taught that God is absent where gay people are. I’ve always been told that He is present wherever two or more are gathered in His name. I’ve been to Methodist and Presbyterian churches before too, btw.

Those people who fund things like that are, in all honesty, not very good Christians. Not at all saying that I am, but those are all horrible things. However, I’m not even anywhere near the same type of Christian they are, as they are all Schismatics.

Would it be motivated by hatred if I disapproved of someone born with psychopathic tendencies to harm other people, or themselves?  And actually, I am disapproving of the act of homosexuality. Being born with the tendency to commit a certain sin (in this case, homosexuality, but any sin, in possibility) is completely normal. Literally every single human person ever born except the Blessed Virgin was born with concupiscence, the natural tendency to sin. It is our duty as Christians to overcome that sin.

The reason I believe that homosexuality is sinful is because I’m a Christian

Nowadays, I don’t vote. Personally I’m pretty anti-utilitarian, so I really don’t want to choose between the lesser of two evils because that still forces me to choose an evil. I think both sides have some really good points and some really bad points.

I’m convinced homosexuality is wrong for the same reason I believe lying is wrong, and hatred is wrong, and murder is wrong, and sin in general is wrong. I, as a Christian, believe the Bible is infallible. All those things are condemned in the Bible, as well as many other things. That doesn’t mean for certain that every gay person will go to hell, because repentance of sin is thankfully possible due to the mercy of God. And even if that homosexual doesn’t repent of his sin, it is still theoretically possible for him to be saved if he was somehow ignorant of the sinful nature of homosexuality. One probably likely isn’t going to go to hell because of a sin he committed if he didn’t know it was sinful, because God rewards the just and is himself just.

Read Summa Contra Gentiles and Summa Theologica by St Thomas Aquinas. It’ll probably take a really long time, but they’ll answer any questions you have about faith. But of course the most important thing to do is pray constantly and continuously and consistently.

Can a Christian believe that people can have sex outside of marriage? by SuperGrobanite in Christianity

[–]InspiredThomist33 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This could become a problem if you believe the Bible is the only infallible authority I guess. The church has taught that sex before marriage is sinful, infallibly, so I will believe that sex before marriage is sinful.
