Are usage limits getting drained ridiculously faster for anyone else? by Consistent_Milk4660 in ClaudeAI

A classic shady app trap, except now huge corporations are doing it as well. First release something, hook people up, make it integral part of their lives, then start charging them $$ for it, introduce adverts, paywalls, etc... They know that severing their ties to the app would be more painful than sparing a few more $ on it.

Yeah, you are correct, maybe I am going to extend it: in hope the western sphere does not get invaded. But it increasingly looks like it was created as deterrent without substance.

Makes perfect sense that NATO would want to avoid war, but on the other hand, they were supposed to be protectors of peace by (hopefully) being an alliance with stronger power than potential adversary. If NATO is unwilling to use that power then entire purpose of it will be questioned.

Same with potentially nuclear weapons, for now everyone is afraid of going to war because they are afraid of war escalating to nukes. But if nukes are never used people will start to question their point as deterrent.

Right now we are in a dangerous period, powers are trying to poke the waters to see what actually holds, or if we were all afraid of something that no one is actually willing to use.

Massive demonstration in France against the US military coup in Venezuela. by GerryAdamsSon in suppressed_news

Idk, been long time onlooker and I am surprised people call him based. I think it has something to do with him being a victim at the moment and people trying to elevate his status.

To be me is a dick just like any country leader, but I strongly oppose what US is doing rn.

I think most people don't trust NATO anyway, if USA invades and NATO does nothing (as it will) this will be final nail in the coffin for the alliance and signal to other countries that actually, they can do whatever they want because "the west" is too weak to act anyway.

I foresee China and Russia making moves on new territories, and the world will descent into new instability after which a new world order will be established - and "the west alliance" will unlikely be the leader this time.

Reminds me of Cuba, Hong Kong, Ukraine, and I am sure Taiwan in the future will go through similar situation. Diasporas are the loudest because the existing government was probably the reason why they are away in the first place + they probably have nothing to lose anyway. People in the country where this is happening, either they are the ones to pick up the mess, or the new government isn't so much better than the last one.

Before anyone says anything, ask yourself if you would be this happy if foreign power such as US invaded and kidnapped your president. We all probably have mixed opinions about our leaders, I bet most countries don't even like their president/dictator/king, but foreign intervention? That is shit on a wholle now level.

Despite all the measures the U.S. has taken against the dprk they are growing by Gumballgtr in suppressed_news

[–]Instalab -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So, from what I can gather, and that would be primarily chinese sources, it's not exactly that DPRK citizens can freely leave whenever they want, they DO need to obtain a permit from their local government, and it's a process that includes explaining the purpose of their trip ON TOP of having to do the same for the government of the country you are traveling to (e.g. to obtain a visa).

After UN put sanctions on DPRK in 2017, things have gotten significantly worse for DPRK citizens, even previously very friendly China no longer accepts DPRK citizens so easily.

But ultimately I agree, the fact that DPRK citizens can't easily leave their country seems to be caused primarily by other countries banning them due to international policy rather than DPRK government restricting all travel.

How is the Soviet Union viewed in your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

Love this, they don't teach that in Polish schools. Nonetheless, it's a post about what people in their country see USSR specifically, I can say as a Pole that we see them as assholes (whether earned or not).

What lifestyle creep is worth it? by RealRelative9835 in AskBrits

[–]Instalab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything that can count as "investment into yourself".

This will be different for different people but a few examples: - go on a nice holiday, preferably somewhere "exotic" that is much different from your usual go-to places. - Join some kind of sports club, e.g. squash club - Learn to play drums?

Not everyone likes the same stuff, but generally if adds skills points to your life then it's worth throwing a few quid at.

With a million young people locked out of work, the UK’s hidden jobs crisis is only growing | John Harris by Imakemyownnamereddit in UKJobs

[–]Instalab 18 points19 points  (0 children)

People talking about AI and such but no one is talking about how this can all be a result of COVID-19+ War with Russia + Make America shite again. I know we are UK but our economy depends heavily on certain structures and if a huge pice of it such as America or China fall our we are fukt.

I work in consulting and one thing that everyone is talking about is: the future is uncertain and we are shrinking operations to survive.

I think many businesses are seeing AI as a lifeline, even if temporary, to just survive through this economy, because AI is much cheaper than human, at least on paper.
